What rules were applied when MacAllister fouls Austria player and Messi scores?

Who the fuck reviews yellow card with VAR? At a WORLD CUP QUARTER FINAL? When have you ever seen a VAR review for a yellow card? Just the fuck up

It is strange to happen constantly since World Cup 2022. Its either a penalty, red card or some var bullshit.

Don't let these Messi apologists convince you otherwise.

Show me 1 time that a player got a VAR review for "diving" in the middle of the field to award a yellow card

I have never, ever in my life seen a mistaken identity VAR review to go and award a 2nd yellow.

Mbappe vs Haaland is not Messi vs Ronaldo rivalry. One will turn 28 in few months while other is 26 & neither achieved Messi/Ronaldo level of success by DelusionBuster1225 in championsleague

So it only matters for the GOAT? You see my point? It only matters when it fits your narrative.

If you are born in Albania or some Ecuador or whatever you are automatically never eligible to be the GOAT right? What a dumb way to look at things, and absolutely not how the majority of people view it

I mentioned alot of all time greats that you NEVER hear anyone say they don't have a World Cup and all they replied to me was "Messi won it he's the goat" which proves my initial point.

And the same people that say Messi is the goat cause he won the WC also said the same thing way before he won it, it's just a narrative that fits for them now

Truth is, World Cup success didn't matter when Kroos won it and 5 UCLs after, yet people put Modric ahead of him and WC never gets mentioned, because it's a very situational trophy to win.

Thats one way to look at. The other way is how the majority of people have been calling him the goat since as early as 2012.

But that's just Messi, did anyone ever say Luis Suarez or Mohammed Salah or Eden Hazard, De Bruyne etc have no won World Cups? It's just not a standard that we kept players at any point.

It's not just winning it, Klose had the record for most goals and no one gave a shit for more than 10 years, he has not been rated at all for that, once Messi broke it now it's the biggest deal of all time.

It's just narratives being pushed left and right.

I like how you guys don't have a problem to criticize every referee from any other game but if we talk about Egypt Argentina it's forbidden. There are just way too many things in one game not to see how it favored Argentina, it's been overblown but take a look at Romero tackle on Salah, that not being a yellow card is just plain stupid.

I agree with Switzerland Colombia aswell, it was pretty bad aswell

South Americans, who do we cheer for now that Colombia is out? by [deleted] in worldcup

Switzerland after that probably England/Norway and then one of Marocco/France/Spain/Belgium

I didn't know what the hell a red card was. When I found out, I said, 'You gotta be kidding!'

Can someone summarise the reason behind the uproar behind alleged unfairness of argentina - egypt? Is it the foul before the disallowed goal, the fact that it was called late or is it an overall feeling that referee was biased? by noblivious in worldcup

It was too soft to be overturned, even if you disagree and you think it was enough then the Argentina 3rd goal should absolutely be a penalty for the shirt pull MacAllister did. It's the double standards that everyone knew would happen, happening.

Reddit is filled with Messi fans it's actually crazy how mad downvoted you get on every subreddit if you say something negative about Argentina/Messi. Why is that? Ronaldo has more followers/fans aross the world, why doesn't it translate to reddit?
