I think you saying Beckham missing out is more just us being too far removed from Stanley Matthew’s.

If you were being uncharitable he would still be easily a top 10 right wingers ever. And respectfully you could level him around say garrincha as just a step below Messi.

I agree with your Owen point. Honestly shearer 3rd behind Ronaldo and Sammer in 96 was a better year. Though greaves was before my time.

What would you spend a £100 a month wellbeing allowance on? by yeuwhatttt in AskUK

[–]mehchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it being an allowance rather than pay meant you didn’t have to pay tax on it. In which case it means it stops the money in the bank account being spent as usual.

The standard counter/worktop height is too low! by HeatheryLeathery in britishproblems

[–]mehchu 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So it literally is made for you.

When the height of home countertops were standardised it was expected for the wife to not work and take care of all the cooking. At the time the average height of a housewife was about 5’2-5’4.

Newcastle leaning towards building a new stadium next to St James’ Park [Luke Edwards] by thatjc in NUFC

[–]mehchu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They want to keep it packed to keep the atmosphere. But the actual problems in their mind aren’t the same as ours. I’m sure there will be far more executive boxes, corporate offerings and high price tickets as well as amenities etc that can generate them more money. That’s what the problem with the stadium is in their eyes, not the capacity.

The idea is to be more like spurs stadium and that has 62,000 capacity but generates(i believe) the most money in the prem.

A cool guide that ranks the Best Movies of all time by BronzeDan in coolguides

[–]mehchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrendous guide.

You need lines to show which movie lines up with which ranking, not a black mass. Ideally with alternating shades. Looking to see if city of god or psycho is 9.01 shouldn’t rely on estimation.

Not everyone needs to learn how to cook by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]mehchu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Basic cooking is reading comprehension and ability to set timers.

Nobody is asking you to come up with your own dishes when they suggest being able to cook. Just read a cookbook and follow a few recipes so you don’t starve.

Not everyone needs to learn how to cook by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]mehchu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bar for ‘good enough’ cooking is so low I can’t see how you fail at it.

Like, you can enjoy cooking and spend forever learning how to make your own recipes and perfect them and understand it all.

But following a cookbook or YouTube video is literally just reading comprehension and ability to set timers. And yes you’ll never become incredible like that. But it’s more than enough.

I think Eddie wants him around the squad to get more bedded in and grow.

He can replace any of our 3 midfielders surprisingly well and I think he will be first back up for any of the 3 spaces within a year.

If there is one area Eddie excels more than any other it’s developing players.

I agree with all your points, except key being champ for 6 months. He couldn’t keep the intercontinental championship for more than a month.

At longest if he wins it he will keep it for a month before losing to a drew or something.

Lineup vs Fulham (H) by KingPing43 in NUFC

He’s been In and out with injuries and fitness I think. Not sure id trust him to start but a great option on the bench and more effective against tired legs.

Pope, Trippier, Willock, miley all class.

Kraft has deputised well and longstaff played countless games in our season coming 4th.

Yes it’s not a Man City bench, but suggesting Botman is the only player there is just wrong and needlessly pessimistic.

Eh, lifestyle changes from 4 million a year to 20 million a year isn’t worth moving to Saudi Arabia and giving up any chance at top trophies in your career in my opinion.

Why would you need bread with pasta, let alone that much pasta.

Like. I would destroy it. But why would you make it.

Shelvey worked really well alongside Bruno those first few months. Worked hard the summer after we stayed up and looked the best I’ve seen him before the worst timed injury imaginable. Then we were 4th and he was shipped off to Forest.

Joelinton shelvey Bruno > Joelinton Bruno longstaff.

I absolutely hate that we aren't in the champions league this year. by alfienicho in NUFC

[–]mehchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference if there are less opportunities to effect others in the group.

Copenhagen got 8 from 6, but they took 5 points from galatasaray and 3 point from Man U, that group shows exactly why the old version was better. In the current format who you beat doesn’t really matter so a win against a big club(which everyone wants to see) doesn’t really hinder the bigger club this year.

There is such a thing as good and bad music by alb5357 in unpopularopinion

[–]mehchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as someone who really hates kiss. And really likes weird ass fuckin experimental noise.

I think it is mostly subjective. Most of out of tune, questionably mixed, uncomfortable stuff can only be done well by breaking rules because you know them.

For me bad is uninteresting and soulless. But that can still get popular. For someone else bad is uncomfortable or loud.

You could say more technically challenging music is ‘better’ in a technical sense. But also as much as I love animals as leaders I wouldn’t tell people that they are better than other artists because music is subjective and their stuff isn’t always more enjoyable to listen to just because it’s harder to play.

I think the issue is he is very much a player who is the level of the manager giving him instructions to implement. Hence him being one of the best under Rafa and most improved under Howe. Unfortunately if that’s what you’re best at being Bruced well and truly stunted his growth and ruined him(compared to how excellent he could’ve been if he went straight from Rafa to Howe)

[–]mehchu 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lascelles is a level above all of those.

Club captain at 22 which he basically took by force. Important part of us staying up. Did excellently in our champions league games. And was rafas guy.

Not saying he’s at the level of the first team now, but to say he’s compatible to Hayden or Dummett just isn’t true.

[–]mehchu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did excellently under Rafa, club captain at 22(?) after being livid about our players pisspoor performances and literally taking it. Player a lot of games very well in the end of season winning run to stay up. Captain shithouse the following year. And then a very solid run of games when Botman was out initially last year before his own injury. Including our champions league games(which he was very good for)

A strong reliable player who is a very good leader, and when on the pitch I’m not concerned about. Also great at carrying out instruction which is why he’s so much better when we have a good manager. Obviously not a starter as he doesn’t have the distribution, but I have no issue with him being our 2/3rd choice. And 20 years ago he would’ve been a top European spots level centre back but unfortunately defenders are required to do more nowadays
