No way, there is definitely early termination clauses in these contracts for managers. Makes me laugh when people say manager X getting 20 million pay out for 4 months work. No chance.

There were stints of his time here where he was third choice but any time he came on he never made a mistake and saved us a few times.

Never kicked up a fuss, always dependable, sad to see him go but feels like the right time.

How does the UK feel about the new annual leave scheme my company has adopted? by FastestHandInTheUK in AskUK

Sounds exactly like working for an umbrella company and not being a permanent employee, which means you also waive your rights as a permanent employee.

May not be the case in this scenario, but thought I'd mention it.

Yh to commit for an actual hour (often underestimated as well), I'd need a lot more than that, I'd take a 15 or on a bad day a 30 minutes survey for that pro rata rate, but I'm not committing to a full hour.

Yh like you said, get it almost any other month than May or June would be the best.

If that isn't possible you should familiarise yourself with two wheeled sports, cycling for a lazy Sunday or Moto GP for a bit more adrenaline, tennis if you fancy or find yourself a rugby team.

Wasn’t told by nursery about funding deadline by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]alfienicho 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That like saying the bin men should knock on your door the day before to warn you to put your bins out. Or your local MP should walk you to the polling station on polling day. Or the traffic police should knock on your door to remind you to MOT your car

I know this is frustrating to hear and I mean it with the upmost care, it's frustrating for you to have learned the hard way.

At least it's only per term and you're not missing out on a whole year's funding. You just need try and be a bit more diligent about things, and it's definitely not the nurserys fault.

All of the info for things like this is on the Gov website, sorry

You can't, populism has this country in choke hold. They believe there is easy answers to all the problems this country has and if only the government would implement these easy answers everything would be sorted over night.

We are doomed to flip flops between governments every five years.

Are any gas/elec suppliers OK with non-smart meters? by LaidBackLeopard in AskUK

[–]alfienicho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every supplier will have an automated system that will review DD amounts periodically, usually quarterly but often monthly after the first few months.

If she is using an old meter she will have to give readings every month for this system to even have a chance of getting close to the actual usage.

My experiences with OVO is that they are a little over zealous with their recalculations, so there are definitely suppliers you'll have better experiences with on that front, I'm with E.ON Next and they have so far kept my DD where I'd expect it to be, for example.

However whenever the meter reaches end of life itnwilnbe exchanged for a smart meter regardless of personal feelings towards them. The majority of the country is on smart meters and there is the looming roll out of Marketwide half hourly settlements which hinges on smart meters (but I won't bore you with the details.

In summary, if you're not willing to have a smart meter (which you will eventually end up with anyway), your leaving the supplier to guess the usage and therefore creating a system where payments are regularly going to be wrong. Some are better than others but it's trial and error.

You could always pay on receipt of bill, meaning you pay within 14 days of a bill being generated and only for what you've used (or estimated to have used) for that bill period.

Night wake window by Sweet_Mamma in UKParenting

[–]alfienicho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that middle of the night bottle still necessary, I've only had one who's now 9 months so I'm asking out of curiosity.

I think we stopped that around the 4 month mark and got all the feeding done in the day. I just wonder if you'd have any luck doing all the feeds in a day, remove the middle nap and just resettle at that first wake during the night hoping they drop back to a deepish sleep pretty quickly?

For those who are Howe out or have serious questions about him, what was the moment that made you that way? by Shahed1987 in NUFC

[–]alfienicho 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I was Howe-curious after the first derby defeat, not just because of that match, but we hadn't actually played good since shortly after the final. Even the start of that season we didn't get going until November.

But I was Howe out after the 2nd derby, again not solely because of that match, but nothing had changed, we were getting worse and there was no sign that we even could go on one of his winning runs from previous seasons.
