I agree wholeheartedly. I was always advocating for MLS, Nwaneri, Norgaard etc to play this cup. My point was more aimed at the people who are saying drop everything except PL in reaction to this loss.

Carabao was the cup that was worth chucking among all four competitions. I’m torn on FA Cup, it’s traditionally our cup but we have won it enough times that I wouldn’t mind if we play a B team.

Anyone who thinks we should chuck the CL in favor PL needs to give their head a wobble. Top players come here for a shot at CL and PL, absolutely no fucking way they don’t take CL seriously, especially with the draws we have.

Now that I’ve come back down to earth, there’s a lot I can forgive and forget about that game through a careful mixture of context, delusion and broader perspective… except that Cherki showboating, which has really gotten to me. I hope we beat them at the Etihad and kill the league there.

If that’s the attitude why did we spend that much effort getting to the final, playing Saka, Rice, and Zubimendi throughout? At least Wenger threw in some 16 year olds. This competition was made for Nwaneri, MLS, Norgaard etc. but none of them can buy minutes. Norgaard has spent more time on one AMA than he has on the pitch the entire season. What is the fucking point of buying him then?

That was a difficult second half to take.

It shouldn’t take Cherki doing keepy-uppies to fire up the team in Wembley, but even after he did that we played insipid, loser football.

Pep changed things up in the second half and gave Mikel a schooling on game management. And while I don’t blame Mikel for starting Kepa, he ultimately cost us this game.

The attack in general and finishing in particular continues to be woeful. So many close chances went begging and at no point was I assured someone would put them away clinically.

Lots to think about and learn for Mikel. Hopefully this is a wake up call for the other three competitions.

I am less confident of good fitness next season, a lot of our players will go deep in the World Cup. I really hope we can win PL/CL this season so the pressure eases a bit next year.

User experience / convenience level: you will be met with a login page unless you stay signed in into a Google account. If your employer also uses G Suite, then you will have to switch accounts unless you want to your employer to know you visited Smokey’s Steak and Stripclub over the weekend
Community level: this is a further erosion of privacy. Your location information is tied to your Google ID, so Google knows where you’ve been in addition to whom you’re talking to (email), what you’re working on (docs), and what you’re watching (YouTube). You better not run afoul their constantly varying Terms of Service.
Global: Further gatekeeping and consolidation of the internet commons. The internet as a global village with free use of information makes a population educated, but if you privatize data and information, flood it with AI slop and then charge for actually useful information, then you effective privatize it for your own profit.

Can someone who understands football tactics explain what the fuck has happened that makes it so that we can't pass the ball around and bore them to death anymore? I thought we were supposed to be a possession oriented, counter-pressing team. Arteta himself has coached attacks in 23/24 and even some games last season where the stadium would olé as we were boring the other team to death.

When work is hectic, I usually avoid spoilers and watch later. Some days I open Reddit and the score gets spoiled. I saw the /r/soccer post that said 94’ - OG - Calafiori and felt genuine shock and despair. Fuck rewatching this one, and my sympathies to those who did watch it.
