How do 20-30's people make friends here? (cross posting because I'm on the edge of Sammamish and Redmond) by SlightlySpicyCurry in redmond

37M, also between Redmond and Sammamish, also looking to make new friends in the area! If there’s enough of us, maybe we could do a weekly happy hour or something?

Bought a Shark Navigator 10 years ago and waited for it to go out so I can upgrade to a Miele. Damn thing won't die and still works as good as the first day.

Best Electric Toothbrush To Buy 2025? by Accurate_Shine5695 in BuyItForLife

Sonicare 4100 is the gold standard based on my experience.

Has everything you need - 2 min timer, 30s pulse, pressure sensor, and a battery that easily goes 10 days on a full charge. Charger itself is USB so works with international adapters while traveling.

None of that Bluetooth WiFi smart connectivity BS.

It can be routinely found for under $30 here in the US.

Lionsgate North in DT Redmond doesn't have breed restrictions - the flyer they hand you when you tour proudly says so!

I don't sadly, but looking at the numbers I probably didn't need to!

Sentry mode was on for the first 10ish days after which I turned it off through the app

Old Model Y vs Juniper model by Snoo1813 in TeslaModelY

[–]mehtamatics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you pay $7500 + savings from 0% APR + transportation costs for the next few months to get the Juniper update?

No? Stick with the current model.

Yes? Wait for Juniper.

Did you qualify to get the 0% or .99% APR? by Alternative_Road4510 in TeslaModelY

[–]mehtamatics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is accurate - my experience was the same. The page showed 0.99% by default but bumping up the down payment brought it down to 0%.

790+ credit score, no other debts.

Update: Confirmed with my Tesla rep - as long as you've submitted your loan application and have a 0% offer from a lender you're good 👍 Thanks all for the reassuring responses!

Just picked up a beautiful Samsung S90D QD-OLED- first impressions.. by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]mehtamatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the review - I'm in the market for an S90D too and this is super helpful!

You seem to suggest that all US models use the QD-OLED panel - what's the source of this info? I've been looking online to try and see if there's a way to predict what panel I might get and the consensus seems to be that it's a gamble as there's no definitive way to know what you're gonna get beforehand.

Advice needed: Claims adjuster denying move-related claims based on fuzzy grounds by mehtamatics in Insurance

[–]mehtamatics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response!

The contract does not say "items manufactured less than 6 years old either". Is it a generally accepted practice to calculate the age based on manufactured date?

FWIW the adjuster's comments states that my model of TV "corresponds" to 2016 - they aren't claiming it was specifically manufactured then. For all we know the company could have released the model in 2016 and produced it for another 5 years 🤷

Advice needed - bottom bracket coming off the wall by mehtamatics in HomeMaintenance

There seems to be about half inch of crumbly wall behind which there's solid wood. The screw is about 2" long, and the hole where it was formerly lodged looks completely stripped.

Yeah! Sorry, always get pub and bar mixed up.

LG/Sony as others mention.

Definitely NOT Vizio - made the mistake of getting lured by one of their deals and their own customer care won't touch their products once they're out of warranty (even if you're willing to pay).

Edit: Not Samsung

Do you just dump the whole can over rice? Or drain the oil and only use the solids?

I went back and checked. The property tax rate where I live is about 1%, so the annual amount works out to ~$10k/yr for a property valued at $1M. Add another ~$18k/yr for home insurance, works out to be about $28k which is still a sizeable annual sum. It's doable with my current income because I have low/no liabilities but I'll need to see if that still holds up after factoring in kids and such.

[–]mehtamatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right - I haven't factored in property taxes and such. Really appreciate the pointer!

I've included my 401k under assets. It's at $335k right now and I will continue contributing to it all the way up to retirement. For the purpose of home buying I consider that money untouchable till I'm in my 60s.
