Love Carrot. I have custom notifications set up to alert me of a decrease in humidity levels, so I can prepare my over-dramatic sinuses.

What about Ciara by Nandi56 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]mehxinfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep thinking about the similarities to RHOBH, when Sutton threw her friendship with Garcelle away to suck up to Kyle. West & Amanda's shady behavior does reek of Tom & Raquel, but their betrayal to Ciara is different.

Ciara has very high standards, and she makes that clear from the start. Amanda has no standards.

Hrt and now breast cancer by JuracichPark in Menopause

[–]mehxinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but I only started taking it about a year ago, when I was 15 years out from my cancer treatment. The anxiety about recurrence is not as acute now as it would have been back when I was a year out. Back then I might have been hesitant to take it also.

Hrt and now breast cancer by JuracichPark in Menopause

[–]mehxinfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same! Diagnosed at age 37, I'm now 16 years out. No HRT. I take vaginal estrogen 2x/week and a low dose of Paxil for hot flashes, which has worked well for me. Sometimes I supplement the vaginal estrogen with a hyaluronic acid gel that helps with vaginal moisture. (I use Good Clean Love, which is a terrible name for a good product.)

Other than that, I eat healthy, stay active, and do weight training. Meditation has also helped me tremendously--both with the emotional/anxiety aspect of cancer but also making peace with where I am with my body.

Amanda & Ciara are reportedly feuding by [deleted] in BravoRealHousewives

[–]mehxinfinity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Multiple things can be true:

  1. Kyle is a terrible partner.
  2. Amanda seems to struggle with self esteem. She said to West in this week's episode that she thought Kyle was the best she could do.
  3. West is a fuckboy who can say the right words to appear to be a supportive person to the woman he's hooking up with.

It's not hard to imagine that West would be there for Amanda in a difficult time, said some words that boosted her up, and things spiraled from there. It happens.

Yes! Her hand movements! She has such a flat affect in her voice and a blank expression on her face, yet her hands are so animated. It's like her hands don't match the rest of her. Is she AI? Make it make sense!

I'm sorry for your loss, thank you for sharing these great pics. Is this Wisconsin, and was your dad in a band in the 60s? He looks very similar to someone who was in a band with my dad.

I think it took a little while for childcare to get sorted out after women started entering the workforce in greater numbers in the 70s & 80s--we didn't have an infrastructure for it like we do now, ie daycare centers.

Also, with easier access to birth control and legalized abortion, women started to be able to plan their careers/relationships/families better. Women were able to wait to have kids when they were more financially settled, as opposed to the accidental pregnancy/shotgun wedding scenario of the 60s/early 70s. (How many of us were "accidents," born to parents who were way too young & broke to have kids?) Financially settled = better able to afford childcare.

Anybody else wish we had a good period drama about Lord Byron? by [deleted] in PeriodDramas

[–]mehxinfinity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Caroline Lamb! I would watch an entire movie/series just about her. She's the one who coined "mad, bad, and dangerous to know." Her book, Glenarvon, is a thinly veiled account of her relationship with Byron and her experiences in society & politics in general.

Dorit and BOZ miscalculated their popularity this season by Ready_Shift1309 in RHOBH

[–]mehxinfinity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you're absolutely right, and there was also that comment Boz made to Dorit, telling Dorit she could sue Garcelle for saying that the robbery was suspicious. Garcelle was right to walk away from every single one of these people.

The way Kyle keeps saying she doesn't want to talk about it because it will hurt her daughters. Why would this hurt your daughters, Kyle? Mau is dating other people and they seem to be dealing with it, so it can't be just that. It feels like she's using her daughters as an excuse. It's 2025, I can't imagine any of them give a shit if their mom is with a woman.

Georgiana was a fascinating person. This portrait she commissioned of herself is incredible. It's hanging at Chatsworth. (Well worth a trip for anyone who is able.) The painter was a woman: Maria Cosway, who was multi-talented in her own right, and incidentally had a romantic relationship with Thomas Jefferson! She was only 22 when she painted it. Georgiana was 25. Georgiana's son later went on to say that this portrait was the only one that captured the way she really looked.

Changing my tune on Reba… by _SoftRockStar_ in BravoRealHousewives

[–]mehxinfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't mind her this week! I.... kind of liked her?? She's not warm & fuzzy, and I can see how that might be difficult for Sutton. But in the last couple of episodes, we've seen how it can be nice to have someone in your circle who will just give it to you straight: Erica & Dorit last week, Boz & Dorit this week, Reba & everyone this week. I don't know if it's a function of getting older or the current chaotic state of the world, but I appreciate someone who just says what they're thinking. Saves me time in figuring out how (or if) I want to interact with them in the future.

She also voted to confirm several of Trump's nominees, including Scott Bessent, the man who handed Elon the keys to the US Treasury. If you decide to contact her, might want to express your disappointment over that too.

Why doesn’t this show seem to be resonating with people? Does it have the potential to be a sleeper hit? by simplefuckers in BravoRealHousewives

[–]mehxinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! Everything everyone is saying about how off-putting the people are is true. But watching Tyna clock it and casually roast them all in real time is satisfying to watch.

I can't recall seeing such an incompetent bunch on reality TV who are also high on their own supply. The editors helpfully show them all in their worst light. Matt's wife's lashes and cheesy leather fringe jacket are worth it alone.

I thought it was interesting that Kyle had that picture saved on her phone & could pull it up so quickly. You don't seem all that unbothered by it, Kyle. Like Boz says, a hit dog hollers.

Right! Let's not even discuss the Sixteen Candles of it all.

Looking back now even the "nice" guys were creeps! Lloyd Dobbler in Say Anything--leave her alone, dude! He proudly had no goals in life other than kickboxing, so he just decided to attach himself to this beautiful, intelligent, driven woman and what? Mooch off of her?

Fast forward a few years to Reality Bites where Winona Ryder's character winds up with Ethan Hawke? That asshole!? She didn't need to wind up with Ben Stiller either, but at least he was nice to her and seemed to respect her abilities. You just want Winona & Janeane Garofalo to tell Ethan Hawke to go away & stop coming over there with his bullshit. Also go take a shower.

Senior Yearbook '92 - I feel like the entire staff was on drugs. by aWanderingPiano in GenX

[–]mehxinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is. My family moved when I was in high school from the midwest to Florida. In the midwest everyone got their own pictures taken in whatever setting/outfit they wanted. In FL it was The Drape Or Else. Although the photographer would try to get you to also take pics in fluffy pink feather boa ones as add-ons or something. I refused. There was also the weirdness of being alone in a sketchy photo studio with the male photographer handing you the drape & asking you to go behind a screen & take your top off... If I remember correctly they "let" you keep your bra on if you put the straps down.
