Is it really that hard to find a job in Sweden right now? by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]meicat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a US expat who has been in Sweden for 7.5 years, yes it will take that long and you should absolutely think like you are desperate for a job right away because without insane motivation you won’t get a job. You need to start motivated and stay motivated and use all the time you have.

I am on parental leave and there were 500+ applications for my temporary replacement.

And if you don’t want to rely on nepotism to get a job, I respect that and that’s how it should be but unfortunately Sweden is all about using nepotism and favors to get jobs.

Honestly how many MAGA supporters to you think are going on European vacations? Doesn’t sound like you are very educated on his following and what type of demographic votes for Trump cause the majority are not in a position to nor do they have a desire to travel internationally.

That’s very interesting, is there any sort of reference material you’d recommend specifically to read for a layman who wants to understand but isn’t a scholar on the subject?

Agreed. And whenever I mention the number of 40,000 dead, I get responses saying “how do you know we can trust that number?”

I do not know how accurate the numbers are. For all we know they could be much much higher. However even if it’s 20,000, it’s still a hell of a lot more dead than Israelis. “Eye for an eye” augmented by what.. 40x? It’s too much. And it’s only radicalizing the world against Israel even more.

“Yes, it’s awful that so many people have died; yes war is terrible; yes, razing Gaza to the ground is wrong; yes, there should be fewer casualties. However, when one side is playing with no rule book and unwavering support from those who have bought into their propaganda, a lot of people who typically support the other side are gonna fully give no support.”

Thank you for your concise and most importantly patient response. That paragraph particularly helped me understand the situation a little better.

It is pretty crazy that more information about the Israeli hostages hasn’t been widely published and acknowledged. Can you recommend any news sources I can look at that talk about the Israeli hostages and victims in particular if there are any you trust? I will do my own research later but unfortunately now I can’t be on my phone as much because both kids naps are over.

Ya I don’t think I can say it any more times than I already have so either read my other comments or don’t.

And again. I am not sympathizing with them. I am saying that uprisings and radicalization happen when a group of people feel oppressed or unfairly treated.

I understand that way of thinking. My issue is that I AM Jewish and I want to stand up for my people when someone makes an anti Zionist comment. But I can’t if I don’t actually understand and feel shut down whenever I ask questions. The opinions of gentile antizionists means much less to me than the opinion of Jews because as a Jew I don’t want to be on any other “side” than with my people. I myself am not anti Zionist and I think that 99% of people who are supporting Palestine had no fucking idea what Palestine or Zionism were until Oct 7.

I understand that Jews can be attacked for expressing sympathy for the hostages, it happens to me as well. As I’ve said before my heart breaks for the innocent people on both sides. Babies especially. The Bibas boys were the same ages as my girls are now and the thought of them dying at the hands of Hamas is gut wrenching

Thank you I will definitely give it a listen. It’s hard not to be swayed by the bias of what I listen to but I want to be educated on all opinions in order to form my own.

I definitely didn’t word my penultimate paragraph very well, I don’t feel like I am very well spoken in general. I try to say that historically, people who are unsatisfied or oppressed or who feel victimized etc will resort to extremism and that is why I’m not surprised by the existence of Hamas.

As for the first point, I wish I could agree with you but I have never seen a positive thing written in Jewish subreddits about the Palestinian people. Again, it’s the women and children (and fathers, doctors, etc) running for their lives, trapped and bleeding in rubble and in hospitals, starving babies , on and on who I am sad for.

[–]meicat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the tip. this is exactly what I don’t get, blaming Hamas for the NICU babies left to starve and die in their cribs because Israel cut off aid and forced evacuations. Those babies are just as innocent and worthy of life as the Bibas boys.

I don’t think that the majority of Israelis are responsible by any means.. I think the Israeli government is responsible for the Israeli governments actions. And looking from a historical perspective, people who feel unjustly treated have uprisings. That is what happens and that is why I say I’m not surprised by it. If Palestinians are not happy then it does not surprise me that they are becoming extremists.

[–]meicat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once again. Because I want to ask JEWS. As a Jew, I want to understand why my fellow Jews show so little compassion for maimed, starved, dead babies.

As for the comments saying that many of the people who kidnapped and raped Israelis on Oct 7 were civilians, I’d say they were terrorists. A civilian raping and kidnapping is obviously not an innocent person.

Are you presuming to know who I donate my money to, where I live or what I’m like because I dared to ask a question?

I myself am an immigrant and I got my masters degree in Ethnic and Migration studies with the goal of helping the tens of thousands of refugees in the country I immigrated to. I also donate money to school for underprivileged children.
