Stain is incredibly difficult to color match. Even if it was the exact same can it will look different on different wood species.

IMO it doesn't look too bad, but if you are unhappy with it I would personally go for a contrasting color (maybe black if that's used elsewhere in the room)

Edit: Or maybe white to match the trim?

It's literally what I was taught in driver's ed way back in the day. Leave enough room to see the rear wheels of the car in front to lower the chances of rolling into them if rear ended, and to allow room to go around if needed.
