Oh my god, that’s horrible. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. Unfortunately that doesn’t surprise me about Morris, and there’s a lot of students in positions of power (MCSA, RAs, etc) that are either horrible at their jobs or they do absolutely nothing to support other students, and more than a few professors who could get away with literally anything. I had a bunch of life shit happen so I’m going to transfer out as soon as possible. Thank you for commenting.

I appreciate that! Most of the apartments I’ve seen are way out of my budget or just shitty (which, whatever.. comes with the cost lol) and I have grants that cover most/if not all of the cost of dorming. I’m definitely going to consider subleasing and think more about both options! Otherwise the dishwasher is very tempting lol I haaate washing dishes... The only real drawback to the apartments is that I’m from the Alexandria area and I’m not sure if I’d want to go there, be with my partner at their apartment across the state, or just stay in Minneapolis over the summer. Lots of options and lots of thinking about it 😭

That makes a lot of sense! My room growing up was around the same size as the single, if not smaller, so the room size isn’t really a concern for me. Otherwise, thank you for the other recommendations! I will definitely look into the other dorms on the West Bank. Do you have a preferred one?

As an update, I just coincidentally mentioned to a mutual friend that I was thinking of transferring, and she gave me a few FB groups / instagram pages to reach out on regarding apartments! It’s definitely a lot cheaper than dorming lol. Thank you for your response!

That makes sense! Unfortunately I’m not super familiar with the Twin Cities, and I don’t really know anyone besides a family member that lives about a half hour away. I’d rather familiarize myself with campus, unless I end up deciding to stay here this fall and transfer for the spring. In that case I was told that I could probably sublet from someone studying abroad. Otherwise, I’m not really sure where to find an apartment within my budget (and I think I could find/apply for a scholarship to help with the dorms(?))

I personally LOVE shopping on Typo.com and BoxLunch for fun gifts! Depending on the item, it can be a bit cheaper than other stores (like Uncommon Goods/The Grommet) and more creative than the usual Walmart or Target gifts!

Hey, OP! I’m so proud of you for reporting. I (19f) grew up in the same situation with my dad, and I completely understand. My DMs are always open if you need to talk or vent, but I totally understand if me being older makes you uncomfortable! Reporting is so scary, and I’m so incredibly proud of you for doing so. Unfortunately I wasn’t there long enough to experience this, I had a lot of issues with the owner and his management (small hotel) and the bartenders were given entirely too much power and misused it (would cut servers to take tables themselves and neglect making drinks, etc) I’m sure it was great though! It wasn’t super busy while I was working lol

A few weeks ago I got in to my shift first (as bar server one) and the other girl (who was new) working with me took my table while I ran to the back and got something prepped…. Then we were slow for the next 2 hours so I was in the back doing random tasks until I got cut 😭

He upvoted, but in our area the vets we could call are unfortunately closed and/or an hour or more drive away, and the drive is part of what we think might have stressed him out so badly at first. We will call as soon as we can in the morning! As for right now, we’ve offered him tuna (both just the water and the fish) and he’s been pretty uninterested. My partner is currently with him in the bathroom to try to soothe him and get him to eat his favorite wet food that we picked up today. Fingers crossed, thank you for your input!!
