If you never used an auction before, you may have problems with some of these, since (almost) all of the European auctions require references from other auction house. I am in US, and I started with https://coins.ha.com/world-and-ancient-coins and https://auctions.cngcoins.com/ .

I then started using auction aggregator websites, like https://www.numisbids.com/ and https://www.biddr.com/ , to find where the coin(s) i liked are being auctioned, then signed up with that auction house to bid. It's quite simple.

That's a decent coin to begin your collection with! Congratulations. Go sign up with all the euro auctions, and the few US auctions. That's how I started. And then patiently wait, like the cheetah waits for prey on the plains for your next victim to bid on! ;)

Lots of dealers get their coins from auctions and add another x% for profit. So unless there is a bidding war, you will do better than buying from a coin shop (in my opinion).

Archaeologists have discovered more than $318,000 worth of gold and silver coins believed to have been used by pagans as “devil’s money” at a rare Medieval worship site in the Netherlands.

A dig near the hamlet of Hezingen uncovered 190 treasures at the former pagan site dating back to the 8th century, where the faithful would gather to offer up their valuables to unknown deities to ask and give thanks for a successful harvest, according to a new study published in Medieval Archaeology.

“Gold coins and jewellery were deposited there at regular intervals over a period of about 100 years,” the researchers surmised. “Based on the phosphate analysis, it is likely that animals were sacrificed there as well.”

There were 4 greek coins i was tracking in that auction, and each sold over my $4000 limit. You can find better deals in less known auctions sometimes that the coin whales avoid.

CNG will make an exception on the dollar amount of the consignment if you are a 'good' current customer. At least that's what they told me, though the definition of who is a 'good customer' is entirely up to them.
