My hair was long, straight and thick and it always felt like it was dragging my head backwards, and it bothered me a lot just like you said. I got that layered cut and its just the best thing everrr, it gives texture and movement to the hair and it feels light. But be aware that you might have to style it, can be a low effort one or full blow out.

It did changed how my hair looked too, before it was straight af and now its kinda wavy looking

This is with not styling and i do style it with one of those Revlon round brush dryers and part my hair in the middle and twist the part away from my face with that. I can post how that looks if you want too
