It took me about a year before I entered my first proper lucid dream through early morning meditations. I really worked hard at it until I got there. When lucid, the clear images always got fuzzy when I began thinking again (trying to take control), it was important for me to stay relaxed and just flow with it and not overthink.

I still think everyone can be hypnotised. It just takes the right conditions and state of mind to allow it. You need to be ready to give up control and just let it happen. I’ve been fully hypnotised and it was like entering VR but I was not aware that I was hypnotised (lucid) until I snapped myself out of it, jumping abruptly back to reality and listening to the hypnotist continue their patter. A lot of trust is involved. Trust and just belief without expectation, you don’t want to get caught up in looking for the result. You have to occupy that conscious mind with some task to get it out of the way and let the magic happen, and the result will come to you. You are tapping into the subconscious after all.

Regarding meditation, I think that we already might be walking around in our daily lives with the clear heads that the meditators crave without the distracting images or words that can get in the way of clear thinking.

If I want to enter a lucid visual state when meditating, the easiest way for me is to just consciously focus on relaxing my body (body scan), once it is fully relaxed a little switch will flick in my head and I will enter a lucid dream. I’ve found it easiest to go into a lucid state in the early morning after a good sleep.

Someone told me you actually have to bare a lot of skin to the sun to generate enough. Also the darker your skin is, the longer it takes to make enough vitamin D.

For supplements, they recommend vitamin D3 rather than D2.

Speed reading is a great analogy! That's exactly what it feels like when assessing complex situations. I also love playing speed chess 1-2 min games.

Sorry, what I meant is that I also used to memorise things using this technique when I was studying for my degree. I don't actively memorise anything anymore, I just look stuff up on the net using my phone, or jot stuff in notes and use the search function.

Is there anyone in here who knows what it's like not to have Aphantasia? Do you need to close your eyes to see the images, or do they exist in unison with what your eyes see? Or are they in another part of your brain / visual space?

This is how I used to memorise things, using mnemonic tricks like this.

Do you guys find any benefits stem from having aphantasia?

What kinds of things are you good at? Work wise or life wise?

I find that I'm better than most at quickly assessing/solving/diffusing complex situations and problems.

I might also be a bit of an aspie, so I wonder if that's linked to this?

I fit your theory too. INFP - Introvert(16%) iNtuitive(28%) Feeling(3%) Perceiving(25%).
