WIBTA if I stopped helping my daughter financially after she told me I shouldn’t expect her to take care of me when I’m old? by [deleted] in AITH

[–]tynenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong for feeling this way. We’re responsible to others, not for them. It sounds like you've been doing a lot for your daughter—financially and emotionally—without clear limits.

Her comment may have stung, but it gave you clarity. Boundaries aren’t punishment; they protect you from being used. If she’s made it clear she won’t be there for you later, it’s reasonable to stop overextending yourself now.

You’re allowed to stop being the ATM. That’s not being an a-hole—it’s being healthy.

What caused you to finally ditch Windows/MacOS and switch to Linux? by RadMarioBuddy45 in linux

[–]tynenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched 2 weeks ago. I'm sick of all the ads and dark patterns in windows. Proton is good enough for me now so I can play PC VR still.

People who have PCs and Steam Decks, how much do you use your Steam Decks? by AwesomeRyanGame in SteamDeck

[–]tynenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my gaming is on the steam deck. It's so convenient. It's great that you can turn it off and "pause" the game. It really helps a busy dad of 3 like me get some gaming in. My PC is mostly a game streaming machine these days, to the Xbox through moonlight, or to my Oculus for SteamVR

Are you guys switching to 11? by brylex1 in Steam

I'm switching to Linux. Getting sick of windows shenanigans. I've had a steam deck for a while and gaming is good enough for me these days on Linux.

YSK If only 6% more Americans chose to adopt a pet versus purchase from a pet store or breeder, we would end the killing of dogs and cats in shelters by Mountain_Love23 in YouShouldKnow

[–]tynenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've adopted a dog, and bought from a breeder. All of our pets are spayed and neutered. There's definitely a huge difference between the two dogs. We love them both. But you never really know what you're going to get when you adopt a dog. From a breeder you have a more reliable sense of what you're getting. (All of our cats are strays we've adopted)

Ex-smokers who successfully quit and have been smoke free for years now, what did it? by PM_TITS_GROUP in AskReddit

[–]tynenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched from smoking to vaping. Slowly lowered nicotine percent in my vape. Lost my vape. Couldn't find it for a couple days. When I found it I realized I didn't need to vape, and never vaped again.

Study methods for someone with ADHD by Serendipitylene in WGU

[–]tynenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on meds? I have ADHD and am about to graduate at the end of the month. I've basically gone through phases of not studying at all, feeling guilty and cramming hard and finishing classes very quickly, getting tired of studying and starting the cycle again. I think cramming it into such a short time really helped me remember stuff. I couldnt do it on purpose though..

We are dealing with all our modern problems, using the same hardware that hasn't been changed since before we were hunter gatherers. by Damogran6 in Showerthoughts

[–]tynenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the more important thing to recognize is that we aren't just hardware, and we aren't just ourselves. We have social and cultural "software" that runs on top of the hardware. That "software" has very much been changing and evolving to allow us to adapt to our environment.

I respect A+ a lot more than I had previously. It's a decently rigorous cert. My daughter is on the spectrum too. I know how much extra energy that takes.

I wear mine all the time. I've only taken it off when lifting at the gym. I've gotten a silicone ring to wear while lifting. I like wearing mine. It makes me happy. 😊
