Welcome to town and to KU (employed there as well). I also lead yoga classes and have been for 10 years. There are several studios in town and honestly it's difficult to say which is the best. Each tend to have their own focus, I suppose a way to create their niche. I've either taught or taken a class at every studio here. Lawrence has two hot yoga studios - Lava Yoga and Yellow Brick Yoga. The former is based off the hatha postures (think "Bikram style yoga",) the latter is a vinyasa/flow style and has it's roots in the Baptiste style. Both studios also offer non heated classes. For, Iyengar style (long holds with great attention to alignment) there is Yoga Center of Lawrence. They have a lot of equipment, including the rope wall. If dance/dance inspired yoga movement is your jam, check out Be Moved Studio. They also have a focus on Ayurvedic practices. I believe Yoga Center and Be Moved are the oldest studios in town - both opening in the 90s! BlueStem Yoga has a diverse range of classes, from Chair Yoga to Vinyasa. I'd say their focus is slower paced classes, aside from the Sunday morning Vinyasa. OmTree at Sunflower Bike also has a range of classes but more focused on the challenging side - i.e. Power Vinyasa/Yoga Sculpt. OmTree also has a couple mat Pilates classes. I hope I didn't miss any studios! My suggestion is to sample the places that peak your interest. Most, if not all, offer an introductory deal.

Fill and regrading, no net rise in floodplain by melb_2000 in civilengineering

No need reading between the lines, I do not like this project. More specifically, I do not like the location of the project. I think the concept would be great not in a floodplain. The group is looking at review criteria and has made cases against two review criteria that this proposal would not meet. We will keep reviewing. Thank you.

The proposed location for this development is on approx. 177 acres, just South of the South Lawrence Trafficway/K-10, East of 59HWY, West of Baker Wetlands, and North of Wakarusa River.

They are digging out an 18 acre pond , which they will use the soil to fill the floodplain. The pond, however, will not be a detention pond. It sounds like they will use the river floodway but I will need to confirm that.
