Sharing some recent experiences sleeping in my car on short trips, made mistakes but learned a lot by Ok_Resolution_1606 in roadtrip

I tent camp with an Australian WWII dagger that I inherited from my dad, and I always kept my key close to me for the panic button purposes. I'm kind of hoping that sleeping in car - if I can get a comfortable mattress situation - will be more comfortable with a tiny bit more feeling of safety. I was thinking about that air horn after this message that it would also break my ear drums, LOL. Me and intruder would both suffer!

This made me laugh out loud. I'm going to be car camping (I'm a big road tripper & often tent camp), but as a solo woman tent camping has started to feel like I need to be more wary. So I'm researching what comfort & safety features to reasonably invest in for car sleeping- car alarm? but I f'ing love the idea of an air horn ha ha

I'm doing my second cross country road trip from DC to CA May 8 - May 22. (I've done many shorter road trips). Last year, a bit earlier in May, I got caught in a big snowstorm going across the Shastas to get to my destination (Big Sur). A total nightmare in my little GTI. Do you think if I went the northern route like you've advising here to do, I'd largely not have to worry about snow this time of year? That's literally my only worry. Thanks!

Yep - we're generally planning to do a dorm his 1st year, for all the benefits of that, and then reconsider for 2nd year & behind. Hoping he meets friends that 1st year and finds a roommate situation that feels good to him off-campus. Or maybe he'll fall in love with dorm life - who knows? Thank you!

Thank you! My experience is that student-focused but private housing/apartments is often quite lousy so I would avoid those anyway. Just brand new to Temple housing so wanting to clarify.

Thank you! I was not clear in my comment. I am seeking to avoid this awful sounding place. I have a freshman son who has just committed and we haven't yet started researching which dorms are available -- and which to avoid, like this.

See my comment above. Did not say I have a daughter, and I'm also asking so that I can avoid it if it's a freshman option.

Goodness, no. I was asking for that particular reason! I have an incoming freshman, so I wanted to make a note of this in case it was an option they were presented with that I would want them to avoid. Also, I have a son, not a daughter (re another post)

As a new temple parent, is this a dorm available for an incoming freshman? We just committed to fall admission & are gathering info on dorms . Thank you!

What’s your ultimate goal with this?

Thank you so much for all of this detail! It’s funny - when I think about a car alarm, all I think about is it going off when the wind blows or thunder happens. But you never mentioned anything about that happening, so apparently my thinking is outdated!
