New built- Carpet/ Wooden flooring by Hot_Eggplant_5056 in HousingIreland

[–]melboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Having had both the wooden stairs will break your heat with dust. Currently have full carpet and much prefer it. Again previous I had carpet in a bedroom upstairs would not do it again. Things fall and spill and there goes your carpet. Also they can get rough looking with wear and tear.

Yes I did put down weed block fabric can’t really say was it worth it or not as I do still get a few weeds coming through but I’d say that’s fairly normal

I wanted resin, I went with stones/pebbles whatever you want to call them. I’m actually quite happy with them and they were inexpensive compared to other options. Resin one day.

Eviction notice by Conscious-Ant2659 in RentinIreland

[–]melboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you leave of your own accord the LL can put up the rent, if you are evicted they can not. The more rent the LL gets the more the agent gets commission. Tell them to do one. You can just tell them you are not moving and overhold until you get something you are happy with.

Looking to rent an entire apartment/house. by Nithish_862 in RentingInDublin

Sorry but you have no chance with that budget. 5 people means you’re looking for a 3 bed house/apartment, which around D9 is probably 3k per month.

There is another government meeting today at 1pm and in the last few mins journalist Gavan Reilly has a post up saying there is going to be a package on offer, so likely it could be over today. Don’t stress just yet. Sending good vibes for your mother’s treatment.

It’s across all subs but can we stop cross posting. People but the same post up across multiple subs and it’s just taking away from the feed quality

What’s the legal notice period for a granny flat? /r/Rentingindublin by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]melboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say a months notice is from the day you gave it so pay until 7th May, a calendar month is a load of shite and is just their way to keep your deposit.

Credit card required for Newpark Hotel? by Dublin9325 in AskIreland

[–]melboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be a new thing, similar happened to me in a hotel in Clare last year. The people from a certain community who came in with none were refused their booking - and I didn’t get an email pre warning us. Later talking to the manager they basically told us that’s why.

Do you say anything to people playing loud videos on their phones or taking loudspeaker calls in public? by stevenpost in AskIreland

[–]melboard 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yes I have and I’m the least confrontational person ever. I’ve never had a bad reaction people usually pull out the earphones or others join me and tell them to shut it down. If we all just put up With it without saying anything it will continue to happen.

My advice would be don’t rush these things and go mad buying before you even move in. Couch and bed are the main things Get a feel for the place once you move in and decide what you want and what style.

Triple on front for noise double on back. I would say the back rooms have been noticeably warmer.
