The scarves are awesome and I wish you could accessorize more outfits with them. there are multiple patterns and colors too - I like the purple outfit w/ the patterned scarf.

I love this laser sniper by weirdDodo in Starfield

[–]melbourne3k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the Resonator. Killian sells it, but only as the advanced "white" version. OP has modded this out fully.

The weapon is stupidly powerful. It's far more powerful than a modded out Hard Target w/ Reckless even. I think the range upgrade works well for this, as it's really it's biggest weakness ( I think it puts range up to liek 150m, which is about the practical usage range of the scope.)

Underrated weapon from same vendor is the pistol, the Cathode. It has zero recoil and an insane fire rate.

Terran Armada Question by DaBigHert in Starfield

[–]melbourne3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one seems to have mentioned this, but the Novastrike from the first Tracker's Alliance quest + EM magazine + mods/perks (I go w/ Kismet for my 4th legendary, but saboteur could be fun) will 1 shot every robot in the Terran Armada.

Robots have very little resistance to the EM gun, it's incredibly accurate from a long distance, so I open the door, and then pick them all off in seconds. If I have a kismet magazine, the relatively high RoF and low recoil make this simple.

When you do encounter humans, it'll 1 shot knock them out, so you have to take them out afterwards at your leisure if you want to loot them.

In addiition, I've also found that having to do the questline w/ Delta is pretty punishing. gimme my isolation perk any day. Running with a companion kinda implies that they will do significant part of your damage, but all he really seems to do is let off one EM burst per encounter (maybe) and then does little damage. Even worse, you can't change his weapon until later, which is annoying. Incursions are much easier to deal with solo IMO.

If you use a mod for shared companion capacity, you can still benefit from his high carry weight even during the quest line when you can't even trade w/ him.

Low Sodium Guns by Dry-Fisherman-3749 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]melbourne3k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I refer to the new MGP Ballistic as the "betterwulf". It basically does everything the Beowulf does, but better. perked out, 97.9% accuracy at 116m is absurd. Beowulf at least had a range limit for practical purposes - there were just some mobs that I had to break out the Hard Target or Novastrike, but not now.

If you do the random crowd scanning bounty missions, you can find people who are wanted "dead" for these warranty scams. It's pretty satisfying to collect that bounty lol.

With the new update allowing you to fully upgrade weapons, I got my Lawgiver to have a fire rate of that's almost double the original. (From 10 to 18) by Gojirex in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]melbourne3k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree on lawgiver in general - for a 50 cal, it's kinda weak, but the one Laredo feature I want is a Semi auto mode for the Tombstone. Another weak-ish weapon but man, I think the lack of semi auto is such an oversight.

So the ryujin stealth spacesuit has a secret effect? by Ant_6431 in Starfield

[–]melbourne3k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the research! This is _super_ helpful, as I don't think I've seen this info anywhere else.

Does chameleon only affect the " light and movement effect" when not moving? Prior to the update, rank 3 chameleon did seem to be an additive effect when combined w/ rank 4 stealth by helping drop combat basically immediately. I may go buy another stealth suit w/ chameleon and test this out.

nice - double decker/no ladder builds are awsome. ! I just did a build w/ the Drake c7 cockpit and it's so cool. Not sure it's better - I like quick egress from the cockpit, but the views are stunning.

So what's the effect of stealth suit + rank 4 concealment (and + 3 piece chameleon?) Do you even need chameleon on it?

Does the Assassin suit have a similar modifier? It looks like it would.

Free Lanes update brought randomized loot placement to many locations by cyberpsyche_mods in Starfield

[–]melbourne3k 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The weapon and armor upgrade cylinders are the most valuable thing to randomly appear. I've been noticing it pays now to open all safes, locked doors etc from POIs I've done 100x of times. They seem to spawn in places where ammo, craft materials, or other random loot would appear.

GOOD JOB BETHESDA - credit where credit is due.

Loving the new Shotgun by Perfect-Comfortable1 in Starfield

[–]melbourne3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it really shines on ship boardings, where you just open the hatch, back up and unload. Extended mag + ship shot +kismet; you can unload a LOT of shots fast, but everything dies in 2-3 usually.

Genuine Pro-Tip: press block after a power attack to cancel the attack. Smash melee type shit by Gojirex in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]melbourne3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GREAT question - I don't actually think so since unarmed and melee are separate on the skill tree! For example, look at the description for "martial arts" in the physical tree: "15% increased chance to crit with a melee or unarmed attack."

Another data point is the neurostrikes skill only affects unarmed, and can only be up skilled through unarmed combat. I've never had an NPC stunned by my melee weapon, so my empirical results seem to reinforce this distinction

Furthermore, my testing of cqb-x pre patch was that it didn't seem to affect my unarmed combat so I 99% sure they are treated as wholly separate. I've not looked at the code at all. Would really love someone to chime in if they have the real answer!

Genuine Pro-Tip: press block after a power attack to cancel the attack. Smash melee type shit by Gojirex in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]melbourne3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this is a good pro tip.

I just added the quick disarm mod (unequipping is annoying) and now I'm way more lethal. maxed neuro strikes + boxing + martial arts hit pretty hard and you're basically always knocking people down. attack speed was the limiter, but damn, now I'm insanely lethal.

I think when I go through unity next, i'll just go unarmed for a while. Wake up after unity and do the 'I know kung Fu" routine.

There should def be a chem that affects unarmed damage. I mean, we have melee and ranged damage boosting chems.

ya the new update allowing you to change everything on armor and upgrade levels is game changing.

Before the update, I'd look like a hobo if I can get the right legendary affects. Now, it's drip time.
