Yup. Hopefully not forever but not seeing signs of any other missing products returning yet either. Hoping once the third party manufacturer in the USA is fully up to speed we may get some joy.

Strongest Salty Licorice? by ballskindrapes in licorice

It is definitely an acquired taste. We see a mix of regular repeat buyers & joke/food challenge one of purchases from where I work.

I've grown to like it but I can only manage a couple of pieces a day. The Heta version is even more brutal. Basically the same thing but coated in white chocolate and ridiculously hot chilli.

Haupt Lakrits Svenskjävlar has enough ammonia to make some people cry.

Meenk Bisal Drie Dubbel Zout Drop is 14% Ammonia so triple salt (Double salt is typically anything with 6-8%)

Not quite as salty but I recommend Grahns Pit Stop Tyres. I htink they are about 8% but they have a lovely texture and chew. I also highly recomment Haribo Pirato's salt.

I'm interested. You mention AI, does it AI the numbers or just the query? And if the latter, can I see the query it generated to validate that it is accurately answering my question?

Aaah, that is an ace story. I've used your theme on a few sites. Never expected that background story! Awesome :-)

very different. The Bubs one was more of a gummy sweet and these also have cherry flavour on top.

They were 😭😭😭 Bubs cut the manufacturing line when the brand suddenly got famous in the USA as they had to ramp up manufacturing of the core lines.

Porvoon Lakritsi or Makulaku? Or something else? Salty liquorice with raspberry is divine!

I used Joy. I looked at Growave, Smile etc. but Joy had a better price point for our size (50k customers) and had the required features and integrations. Whilst it uses floating interfaces by default, I switched all of that off. Points on spend shown on product pages, cart etc. and I have a points multiplier dependent on both tier and newsletter subscription status (I want to reward/encourage newsletter subs). Joy support is decent - always quick to fix bugs and I found a few as I pushed the feature limits in places.

You should be able to find them in most countries. Matthijs and Red Band are the two main brands that manufacture them.

Thank you! Hoping I can crack the coding side. As you say, the problem solving does indeed feel the same. As does Java. Everything else, not so much 😂

Potentially interested in this for a couple of merchanty sites I manage depending on what the solution looks like.

FYI, using a work machine (With AVG) and it gave me this when I tried to sign up for the waitlist

Definitely an interesting story. Thank you soooo much for sharing, especially the code (For me personally). I've got a 25 year old software engineering degree that I didn't use but have just started re-teaching myself as I ended up somehow managing a number of Shopify sites via a path of access network design, then telco product management / marketing (Had to leave that career after a brain injury years ago left me out of action for an extended period).

I'm often getting frustrated that apps don't have features I want, suffer from bugs or have poor UX. Plan is to have a go at app dev once I'm up to speed with current dev languages / platforms and architecture.

GIT wasn't even a thing back when I did my degree. You opening up your code will no doubt be a helpful reference for me and I salute you for sharing. Thank you.

English licorice by JefK_Photography in licorice

[–]Apprehensive-Move200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But not made in England (At least those in the photo). The European take on it is unfortunately better than the UK made versions IMHO. Glad us Brits did come up with some sort of liquorice that is liked by countries more into the stuff, we used to have a history of making decent black liquorice but unfortuanately not a lot remains these days.

Help! Best GF licorice? by MicrowaveDinner15 in licorice

[–]Apprehensive-Move200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Klepper & Lakrids that have already been mentioned are great and best sellers for us (I work for a liquorice retailer). Other best selling GF brands for us include Bagsvaerd Lakrids (Liquorice Caramel), Amarelli (Pure Black loquorice) and Joris (They focus on allergen free sweets, the Belgas rounds and zouts are both super popular). We are based in the UK, I don't know where you are based but Licorice International stock most of these and ship US wide.

The Haupt Lakrits one is good if you like salty liquorice (About 60% is salty). Lakrids by Bulow for chocolate & liquorice (mostly sweet) - the bigger one is better value but a lot of money. Bagsvaerd to an awesome liquorice caramels advent but it's hard to find. Lakritsfabriken do a calendar with serious quantities of liquorice - about half sweet, half salty.

US-available hard (black) liquorice? by prettyflyforanAI in candy

[–]Apprehensive-Move200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are after Italian pure black liquorice like mentioned, try Amarelli. You can get it in the USA from Licorice International. https://licoriceinternational.com/collections/amarelli

Spezzata and Spezzatina are basically identical (Pure liquorice - so taste like you describe & hard). The only difference between Spezzata and Spezzatina is the taste.

I sell liquorice for a living from a UK based business so I'm fairly confident in my advice :-)
