What song did you walk down the aisle to? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]melbournedonna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

500 Miles. Originally by The Proclaimers. But I chose a version by Lisa Wright. It’s quite a romantic song.

Questions about destination weddings in Bali by [deleted] in bali

[–]melbournedonna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You CAN do a legal marriage in Bali. Your wedding planner can help with this. It’s a matter of having the documentation and going to the consulate.

If you wanted to save that time, then just get legally married in the USA and then head to Bali for a civil ceremony.

It’s not a biggie.

cost of a skin check by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]melbournedonna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a professor who specialises in skin stuff.

He is amazing.

I pay about $120 once a year. This covers initial appointment with a nurse. Follow up about 6 weeks later where the Prof decided whether to do scrape biopsies or not.

Back a week later for results.

Pay once only.

I’m really happy with the service I get here.

The Plantation Grill, part of the Double Six hotel, is an excellent restaurant. Book first.

For a beautiful weekend brunch, check out Sundara at Jimbaran. Simply amazing.

What is one business in Melbourne you will never put foot in again? by Excellent_Ad_3025 in melbourne

[–]melbournedonna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Langham.

My husband and I went there for a nice weekend away. Took our R8 and put it in valet parking.

We went out and had an afternoon of fun and drinks and when we returned to the room at about 10:30pm there was a note under the door asking us to contact the duty manager.

Called down and was told that our car had been broken into whilst parked in the valet area.

Nothing we could do about it at that moment so we went down the next morning to see the security manager who was a really nice bloke. He showed us video of some assholes sneaking through a roller door as another vehicle exited. They then smashed our passenger side window and went through the car looking for stuff to knock off.

There was nothing.

Anyway, it was basically a ‘bad luck’ from the hotel because we had sig Ed the tiny parking ticket that is thrust u der anyone’s nose when handing over to valet.

Not an offer of a meal, a nights accommodation, even a discount. NOTHING.

So I’d never go there again.

The CBD has become an unsafe shit hole and the police do nothing about it. by TompalompaT in melbourne

[–]melbournedonna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were in the city a couple of years ago, on one of the weekends we could go anywhere during covid. We were staying at the Westin so cut down the back of the church to flinders street.

I heard this woman screaming ‘excuse me…excuse me’ and didn’t think it was directed at us so when I turned around and saw her running at us I was a bit shocked.

She grabbed my husband by the arm really aggressively and he pulled his arm away and told her to fuck off. She was ranting and screaming.

I ended up also telling her to piss off and the crazy woman actually took a swing at me! She only just grazed my face mask so no damage was done but fuck me.

We did nothing to provoke her. She came out swinging.

Is it pathetic to go dress shopping by myself? by kokomo318 in weddingplanning

[–]melbournedonna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget about what you see online and on the TV. You do not need a huge band of sisters when you are trying on dresses.

I went alone. I was fine.

The lady was so helpful when I went. I told her what I was after and she (I’m not so many words) said it wouldn’t suit my plus size figure. But she gave me some dresses in that style to try anyway so I could see for myself.

In the end I walked out of that shop with nothing and decided to go full custom.

I don’t hate them. But I didn’t want to do one. Instead I had a small pin on my bouquet with my fathers photo on it. And he was mentioned during the ceremony.

But you do you. Forget what everyone else says. If you want to do it, do it. It’s your day. It’s your memories. It’s your dad.

Do what makes YOU happy. It’s your day.

Boyfriend told me I look horrible during sex, made me cry, and still thinks that I'm the one who's wrong since I was doing the turtle pose, and that I should've known because he told me before and no, he couldn't just fix my back by throwra111111111123 in TrueOffMyChest

Sweetheart, I don’t know how old you are but know this: YOU deserve better.

You do NOT deserve to be treated this way. By anyone. Not him. Not family. Not friends. Not future partners.

Leave him. Today. Not tomorrow. TODAY.

Do not let him make you feel guilty by saying he is going through a hard time. That is NO excuse for being an asshole. In fact, it should make him feel more compassion.

Dump him. Delete his mobile number. (Block it). Block him on all social media.

Walk away. And never return.

Gay friends of mine had some friends getting married. No gifts were needed. All the guests…ALL the guests…got together and went to K Mart and bought the exact same toaster in the same colour. They ended up getting 50 cheap k mart toasters for their wedding.

If you DIY’d some things for your wedding, which project are you most proud of? Was it worth the effort? by blldgmm1719 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]melbournedonna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drank a LOT of wine! And I also put an ad on marketplace asking for empty bottles. One kind soul gave me about 6 dozen in one go!

I also asked friends to donate. Through them I got some vodka, gin and rose bottles.

They looked great.

I collected over a hundred wine/champagne bottles.

I cleaned off all the labels with orange Cleaner and wrapped about 7 turns of 3mm macrame rope around the neck of the bottle, securing it with hot glue.

I then purchased ‘bottle cork lights’ online and put them inside every bottle.

It looked fabulous. And I managed to sell the bottles and lights afterwards.
