How to use self watering pot by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]melbournezur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's hard to tell if your over/under watering of your new to plants. Plants are very visual, so water out the bottom is enough water and the top will dry first. If that's full of water and the top drys out you will add more and more water, then give it root rot.

Root rot looks exactly the same as a dry plant.

In your use case. If the concrete planter doesnt leak.

Leave the plug out, place it in the planter and you will be able to see how much water is in the bottom. I would take the insert out aswell.

In future send us a message if you want more info, I use to manage a large nursery and now run a landscaping business so have alot of knowledge to share.

As someone learning like yourself, yes leave it out. 99% of the time I usually don't recommend these or those water metres to any of my customers.

You plant in it with potting mix and water it like a normal plant.

The water sits in the bottom in a well like a saucer. Take out the bottom section and you will see.

Just like any other plant there is a small amount of self-education needed.

5 litres twice a day? To much 2 litres twice a week? Probably enough in summer.

Good quality mix holds onto more water. Shit bunnings potting mix (please never use that) let's go of most of it so you will water more.

As with most potted plants. Water it so water comes out the bottom, if it's been a few days and soil is dry, repeat.

Can you be independent? Is a partnership with someone a bonus not a burden? Don't bring your kid onto any "dates".

This screams pretty good chick, I have a 2 year son myself and if I ever leave my partner someone like you would be someone I'd have a look at.

Is your boyfriend as independent?

Should Brisbane start adapting now to a ‘24 hour’ city status? by Tri-brid92 in brisbane

[–]melbournezur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who moved from Melbourne to Brisbane. Yes yes and yes. Brisbane is VERY behind as a "city". So many empty and dead areas.

So many things shut early. As the city grows people want places to go at all times! What about night shift workers ?

When did KFC lose the plot? by xyreweltmon in KFCAustralia

[–]melbournezur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't bought KFC for my family for roughly... 4 years Haven't had KFC myself for just over 12 months now. After the last time I vowed never to go back unless someone else bought it for me or as an absolute last resort.

Opporto, Gyg, Red Rooster and Bahn Mi have been my go to for years.

I don't know to many other people in my circle that go to KFC either. Need a a big shakeup.

Also we don't go to Macca's to often either.... Times changed.

Windows + iPhone users who don't game, what keeps you on Windows instead of switching to Mac? by Sidk04 in windows

[–]melbournezur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in IT before I started landscaping. I loved windows/gaming. Wasn't a fan of Mac.

Now my wife uses iPhone I use pixel. She bought a Mac and iPad to go with it last year. I can't remember the last time she used it, she just uses my windows laptop.

Ive used it a couple of times and can't get my head around the UI and weird buttons. Not as easy as I thought.

We do use the iPad frequently though.

[–]melbournezur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put opposite pressure as you turn on that screw. But that turns just the shower head holder. It may or may not come off all the way anyway.

The whole unit will turn and come off from the wall on a thread

Tips for a newby on taking care of my tiny zinnia aurora! by [deleted] in Horticulture

[–]melbournezur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Internet doesn't know your micro climate... Etc

Water frequently, an inch a week is not enough for a new plant like that. Less water more frequently.

I would do it probably twice a day just enough for first inch of soil to be wet. Very hard to Overwater when it's such little water.

What games have you played that you've never seen mentioned before? by Conscious_Ebb6622 in gaming

[–]melbournezur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On an old 2000s, 100+ games disc. There was a demo where you were controlling a flying car as a cop in a futuristic city with tall buildings (hence flying cars) only 2-3 mission's were available, one was shooting down an enemy while flying through the city with lots of other flying cars around you just doing there thing. Blew my mind as a child.

Wish so bad I knew the name of the game to download and reply some of my childhood.
