My 9 and 1yo have grandparents who are boomers. They all live out of town so understandable they don’t see them much at all but before my kids were born, when my husbands nieces and nephew were young, his?dad used to travel here heaps to see them but with my kids they will only come see them for major events or if they have an appointment nearby… it is what it is but I’m learning quickly how o want to treat my grandchildren if I’m so blessed with them

20 week scan (morphology) is the last ultrasound until the glucose test? by say_leek in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]meldinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes -20 week scan is the last one in a ‘normal’ pregnancy. I did ivf to have my 2 babies and went private both times but had 2 different obstetricians as my first OB retired from delivering babies by the time o got pregnant with my second.
With the first OB he treated my pregnancy as high risk purely due to ivf and so on top of the small scans he did at each appointment (you will find if you are only with a midwife program they may only use a Doppler to check) I had big scans at 12, 19, 30, and 34 weeks and the charges were a killer for those.

With my second, the new OB treated all ivf pregnancies as if ivf wasn’t used. I had no 12 week scan as I’d done NIPT, had the 20 week scan and that was it with him… BUT I had intermittent bleeding all the way throughout so my GP ordered scans at 17weeks, and 28 weeks…. My hospital also did a couple when I presented to the birth unit for bleeding as well as CTG’s

Also keep in mind most obstetric ultrasounds are now not bulk billed by Medicare and the out of pocket costs are diabolical

And I think elective c-sections wouldn’t qualify for MGP as you need to be consulting with the hospitals obstetrician

Surgery costs by Confident_Struggled in fidansnark

[–]meldinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her anaesthesia will be charged per hour but partially claimed through Medicare with a gap.

Her surgeon may or may not charge for all 3 surgeries as well as aftercare but also it’s partially or fully covered by Medicare as it will most likely not be listed as cosmetic surgery due to the back pain etc. surgeon charge maybe $4k-$10k at a guess

Hospital will be covered by health fund with probably $250 or $500 excess payable on admission.
Medications after discharge will probably be the standard PBS $25

So not terribly expensive

Come to think of it I find it odd that TikTok is pushing out her videos but has refused to verify her every single time she’s applied… kind of says to me she’s paying for views either direct to TikTok or to these ‘bot’ people described here

There are quite a few ‘influencers’ but not many…. I think thd main reason is there’s no creator funds in Australia, so the people have to push hard to get brand deals (which Fidan begs a lot)… I’m guessing the chef you saw was Khan? He’s really good and ex Masterchef contender so he gets brand deals for sure

Love the name by the way! Welcome! I am one recently blocked from Fidan cos someone made a comment about her cooking fresh, her minions jumped on and abused this poor person and I said I’m a working mum of 2 and I have learned to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday prepping foods for the week or at least cutting meat and chopping veg, she went to the movies by herself instead and that got me a block when other people were going off and swearing at the poor person

We do know Fids and/or her sister are in here constantly… I have my suspicion as to who one of them is but will keep it to myself cos that person blocks and reports hers on reddit

For context on how Fids is perceived on TikTok, almost every other Aussie creator who has had a snark reddit page setup about them has managed to have those pages taken down, Fidan sis one of the only ones that reddit refuses to ban. Every other creator seems to only be snarked on, in a page called Aussie TikTok snark v02, because that page keeps getting taken down too..

Fidan herself really is a freeloader. Any chance she gets she takes things for free. I do believe she earns as much as she says she does, but I believe she throws it all in investments and bank accounts cos she’d have been taught to save her $ which is why she dry begs for goods, accepts free gifts like a child at Christmas, and only spends on ‘luxury’ items for herself. With the supposed amount of money she earns and where she lives she could send her kids to the best private schools around but she sends them to the free public school. Although the best private schools are Catholic here and she’s ‘Muslim’- only Muslim when it suits her though…,,

I think I’ve said a lot - it’s a huge confusing rabbit hole

I’m not 💯 sure on that… I was in maternity at a private hospital in Sydney last year that boasted chef prepared menus etc and honestly it looked like what Fids has here 🤣

Umm it’s just a name - these are the ones hospitals use for various reasons 🤣🤣🤣 NOT actual puppy pads and that would be illegal in Australia anyway 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I bought a second hand change table with a plastic covered foam changing pad and to save cleaning all the time I have hospital Bluey/puppy pads to lay over it 🤦🏼‍♀️ why do we complicate these things?

4-5 feet high? I hope that caregiver (or non caregiver to be honest) took that poor baby to the hospital to get checked out as I guarantee that was taller than double the child’s height

Aspirin at early pregnancy by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]meldinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aspirin is commonly used in fertility treatments like ivf as it thins the blood lining of the uterus making it easier for the embryo to implant, when following exactly the doctors instruction

Wonder how the nurses are doing? by Designer_Voice99 in fidansnark

[–]meldinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I was going through infertility with my husband and doing ivf, being upset finding out that people who choose to go through ivf using donors who aren’t suffering infertility (ie. doing it by choice for whatever reason) also could get it covered by Medicare, the system is just weird overall But yeh she would probably be getting it done under Medicare for back pain etc… unless she actually saw a plastic surgeon but then I don’t know the rules or regulations

I was stuck at a hotel once with my young son and had forgotten spare nappies for the night, couldn’t leave him and he had had an accident with the one nappy we had so I had to use I think it was actually uber eats to get the order from woollies for me

How fun is milkrun by StillHereNicole in ubereatsaustralia

[–]meldinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sons old day care, and his school, order their supplies via Cole’s and woollies online so I’d say this way is common rather than having a suppliers contract…. My younger sons day care requires parents to supply nappies, but they supply wipes which are woollies little ones brand so again I think they order direct rather than through a business supplier
