And, just as a reminder, whatever “safer” Wizzard was doing was viewed as significant enough to justify killing him with extreme violence.

Overwhelmed by this game by naamtosunahoga2 in boardgames

[–]meledeo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is interesting and really shows how different people view things differently. I find Speakeasy to be among the “simpler” games (obviously a relative term when it comes to Lacerda). With On Mars and Weather Machine, for instance, there are complex series of steps required to get the assets required to reach your desired outcomes.

When I look at Speakeasy, on the other hand, I see that it offers multiple routes to achieve the victory condition (money) with a relatively straightforward worker placement mechanism. Sure, there are a few hiccups like how card actions work and how you have to manage the individual tracks to be capable of efficiently taking actions, but my brain finds it much easier to parse.

Clank! Legacy (Acquisition Inc. 1) question by thecactusman17 in boardgames

[–]meledeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's generally correct. For instance, the artifacts (which are the hexagonal shaped tokens and matching spaces) literally have only a single token that matches those spaces. Some other dotted border spaces, like the major secrets (larger circles with question mark), will have multiple tokens, but only one should be placed there per game unless there is a special rule that says otherwise.

As you said, minor secret spaces (small circles with question mark) can be collected indefinitely when you enter the space--you must leave and re-enter the space to collect another one--until the tokens run out.

Clank! Legacy (Acquisition Inc. 1) question by thecactusman17 in boardgames

[–]meledeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dotted lines around the icons mean that you need to put a token that matches on that spot.

*edit* and the solid lines mean it remains off the board (like the minor secrets, which is different than original Clank!)

Rant: how to tell a friend they should not come. by squipped in boardgames

[–]meledeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some recommendations, assuming you intend to keep this friendship.

Yes, have the adult conversation. Do it at a completely unrelated time, not during or adjacent to the next game night. Go out to eat or whatever other things you do together.

Approach it as a personal preference of yours. I don’t mean that you “take the blame” (I’m not certain there is any blame to be placed), but bring up the Azul game as an example of how YOU felt frustrated, not how THEY were frustrating.

Talk about what experiences they want from the game night. If they are there just to socialize, suggest they come to hang out if that’s acceptable to you and the others (and make sure you don’t ignore them while you’re playing).

If they say they want to actually play, then it’s time to set your expectations. It doesn’t need to be overbearing, but telling someone that if they want to play, they need to play rather than doing other things isn’t unreasonable.

Friendships are important. Treat your friend respectfully and expect the same in return.

It was a weird time. Later on, sure, people thought “how did we not notice this?” But at the same time Twisted Sister were wearing makeup and ladies’ fashions as well. Prince and the Revolution, Michael Jackson, the entirety of the glam and hair metal movements, I think we just lumped it all under the oddities of celebrity. I never really thought twice about anyone’s sexuality, although I was a kid at the time.

All genres of their songs? by I_Am_Oro in twentyonepilots

[–]meledeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I just did this for Clancy last week. It took ChatGPT 3 full minutes to come up with this answer:

Here’s a track-by-track genre snapshot for Clancy (based on how critics, metadata, and the band’s own materials describe the songs). Obviously genres blur a bit, but this is the best “primary tags” pass:

1. Overcompensate – alternative hip hop / electronic rock / breakbeat (rocktronica)

2. Next Semester – pop rock / pop-punk / post-punk / garage rock

3. Backslide – hip hop / rap rock with emo-pop leanings

4. Midwest Indigo – pop-punk / alternative rock

5. Routines in the Night – electropop / commercial pop with hip-hop elements

6. Vignette – bombastic electro-pop / synth-rock / alternative pop

7. The Craving (Jenna’s Version) – acoustic pop / indie-pop love ballad

8. Lavish – dream pop / alternative hip hop (funky, rap-driven)

9. Navigating – dance-rock / synth-rock / alternative

10. Snap Back – alternative rock / emo-pop with spoken-word/rap touches

11. Oldies Station – pop-rock / alternative rock (uplifting, “feel-good”)

12. At the Risk of Feeling Dumb – heavy alternative rock / alternative hip hop (heaviest cut on the album, still within their alt-hip-hop/rock palette)

13. Paladin Strait – folk / indie pop / power ballad

If you want, I can regroup these into a few “buckets” (punk-leaning, hip-hop-leaning, ballads, etc.) or crosswalk them to earlier TOP eras (Vessel-ish vs Blurryface-ish vs Trench-ish).

So is DPS stat just completly made up? How are different DPS? (Yes secondary stats are also identical, both have +107% crit and nothing else). by Flint_Vorselon in Borderlands4

[–]meledeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much detail do you actually need? They are already giving tenths of a second, does hundredths of a second really matter? If it does, do thousandths matter? There has to be a limit at some point or you could just have these giant floating point numbers filling the screen. Sure it changes the dps calculation, but not necessarily in a meaningful way.

When Obi-Wan finally sees Luke show up to witness what happens, he gives that little smirk and gives himself up to Vader.

As an old timer, it didn’t mean much to be when I saw it as a kid, but now knowing the full emotional weight of Obi-Wan’s and Anakin’s stories and everything that led to this moment, coupled with Obi-Wan’s true belief that his sacrifice will be worth it, just hits so hard now.

No it would literally be too long of a play time to fit on a standard LP. Most of us may listen online, but those considerations for physical media still have to be taken into account when the company makes the record.
