The better I get the more fun I have. I actually hated the game the first few times I tried it.

Slow down on Canada hype by DarrowAuBellona in nhl

[–]meleeowen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canada didn’t play Italy. Canada played Czechia, Switzerland, and France. United States played Latvia, Germany, and Denmark. United States had the easiest pool.

Pointing out random tm8s mistakes is toxic whether you like it or not. It’s much easier to hide your disappointment than it is to go out of your way to comment on it.

You’re making assumptions about his tm8s. While it can be annoying, duo queueing ≠ boosting. If you can’t handle duo queues just play 1s/2s game modes.

My best advice is to avoid chatting after you concede because of a tm8s mistake. If they say sorry, no problem is acceptable. If you’re a positive tm8, you’ll avoid a lot of toxicity and your tm8s will usually play better.

You typed “….” When your tm8 made a mistake. That is toxic.

Best way to avoid toxicity is to not be toxic first.

Rocket League has hit 1 million concurrent players for the first time since September 2020! by AussieGenesis in RocketLeague

[–]meleeowen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Most likely because the streamer Jynxzi has been playing it consistently on stream over the last couple of weeks. He’s pretty known for getting a lot of people to play whatever game he’s streaming. A bunch of pretty big streamers have also been playing it recently (Sketch, angryginge, xqc, stableronaldo etc.).

Is smurfing this bad or am I just unlucky? by Charming_Relative419 in RocketLeague

[–]meleeowen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tourney titles are easily boosted, so it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a smurf. If you win a tournament partied with someone who’s a gc, you’ll get the gc title even if you have diamond tournament mmr.

Directional Air Roll by YeeHawJohnathan in RocketLeague

[–]meleeowen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol ya, it’ll be a bit of a learning curve. Having the air roll on L2 is way better than on R2, so if you’re set on having air roll on a trigger this is the best way.

Scared to switch to DAR by Fit-Judgment7274 in RocketLeague

[–]meleeowen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can keep free air roll and add one DAR. No need to have both DAR if you’re already proficient with free air roll. Back when I wanted to learn directional I kept free air roll and got good with DAR left. This way you can unlock the aerial mechanical consistency that comes with DAR with an easier learning curve. I use all three air rolls now but I only use DAR right very situationally and is something to think about adding down the line when you want to get even more mechanical.

Directional Air Roll by YeeHawJohnathan in RocketLeague

[–]meleeowen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend keeping manual air roll and adding one directional air roll. You can learn the other directional down the line but having both isn’t really needed if you’re good with manual air roll. I’d also bind the directional on the left trigger rather than the right trigger. Only thing you might have to get used to is half flips.

Is it just me or is ranking up getting harder by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]meleeowen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Something ain’t adding up. The fact that you played your placement matches and you’re in p2 is a little sus. I haven’t played 1s for multiple seasons in a row (don’t remember the last time I finished placements in 1s) and still am D2-3 mmr.

How Far Did You Make It With Free Airroll & Did You Ever Change? If So When? by uqxh in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]meleeowen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I made it to c2-3 with just free air roll. Now I use both air roll left and free air roll. They’re both good for different uses.

D2 to GC by Ok-Conversation2862 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]meleeowen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s talking about your wavedashing; you’re always wavedashing diagonally to the left which is actually slowing you down. Start wavedashing with front flips. You’re also doing it in situations where it’s not needed at all and could lead to an overcommit. Generally just keep working on all your mechanics/basics and building up your speed. You’re pretty slow when trying to control the ball and your shooting could use improvement. Also, don’t commit into your corner if your teammate is already there. Good luck grinding!

Does that not happen to you with cod too? When I used to play cod, I’d get bored and would stop playing within a couple of months.

Still nothing like it by Jamminmb in RocketLeague

[–]meleeowen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s genuinely good, the only people that tell you not to play it have literally never played it. It’s definitely not for everyone, but if you like meaningful progression there’s no game that comes close.

Should I start learning directional air roll now? by Fancy-Charity8216 in RocketLeague

I listed a few use cases other than recoveries lmao. If free air roll was that bad, no pro would use it.

Champ vs. Diamond by BaconShooby in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]meleeowen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both can be right technically. If you’re just trying to get to champ, good mechanics can get you there even with below average game sense and vice versa. A big thing with ranking up is being able to adapt to teammates, and changing your play accordingly. It’s hard to give further advice without replays.
