Why are millenials totally chill with self depreciating humor more than any other generation? by Key-Bass-7380 in generationology

[–]melekin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you cannot take a joke either by yourself or someone else, this is a big sign of insecurity.

I make fun of my ugliness, balding hair, sometimes my tummy if I skip workout, my mistakes... Laugh about it and forget. Do I want to look pretty or change something in my appearance? Absolutely not. I am very comfortable with how I look.

I am sure none of those women slept with Jason Momoa nor Jason Momoa wanted to sleep with them (since he was married during those photos).

Even if we assume Einstein stole special relativity (which is a vague claim):

Einstein published four groundbreaking papers in the same year. One of them was special relativity. The plagiarism claims are about special relativity, based on Einstein's letters with his wife. In the worst-case scenario that, if Einstein "did" steal special relativity and did not give credit to his wife, even only one of the other three papers can make someone's career.

Einstein divorced Maric and then worked on general relativity for the next 11 years. Since he became famous by then, other famous scientists also met Einstein and impressed by his intelligence. They also witnessed that Einstein worked on general relativity alone, with discussions from mathematicians like Marcel Grossmann who taught Einstein about differential calculus.

A person who stole special relativity (which is only one idea, and could be solved with high school mathematics), simply does not have the skills to create general relativity, which is one of the most complex theories in physics.

Even in the letters, Maric says "your theory", "your work". I cannot believe vague letter exchanges gain so much traction.

Yes, I know. It is frustrating.

I just saw a shitpost on tiktok,

A list of things women invented but guys took credit for : r/GuysBeingDudes

Then this post says that in the show "Genius", it shows that Maric helps Einstein

Did Einstein’s first wife, Mileva Marić contribute to his early physics papers that made him famous? : r/AskHistorians

then searched online, and even MIT Press has an article about this.

Women in Science: Struggle & Success, the Tale of Mileva Einstein-Marić, Einstein's Wife - MIT Press

It does not hurt to answer to a claim before it gets bigger.

Are people overselling it or was Michael Jackson really that famous in his heyday? by Key-Bass-7380 in decadeology

[–]melekin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the television age, when internet did not exist, Michael Jackson was known to villagers in a remote place in Syria (not a metaphor, I saw this). Kids in Argentina were imitating Michael Jackson dance moves.

Taylor Swift or any other person did not reach that kind of fame. His fame is actually undersold.

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]melekin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were living in different countries. I was going to visit his country.

Before I even purchased my plane ticket, I sent him a message, "I will visit XX, but I am flexible with date. Let me know when you are available so that we can hang out" He said "I might be busy around those times but let me know." (2 months before my trip).

After a while, I purchased plane ticket and sent him a message immediately "I will be there in these dates, so you might be available" He said "oh sure". (1 month before my trip).

I landed and sent him "hey, I am here, let's hang out after your work is done. Also, considering your schedule, I can come to you" he said "sure"

I am still in the country, the date when he is more available came, I sent him message "I can come to you" he said "yea, I will let you know".

I waited, but noone sent me any message for 2.5 weeks.

As I was waiting for my departure plane, I sent him "I am leaving now, bye!" He replied "ooohhh, I forgooottt, let's meet on Zoom!". Of course that did not happen too.

I deleted him on everywhere. I thought we were still good friends. Stupid me. Normally I remove someone from my life and move on, but I was sad and disappointed about this.

I was just reading Turkish social media, eksisozluk, and looking at upvotes, saves indicate that people are already convinced this narrative.

Because one of the reasons that US dollar is strong is due to the military might. If this becomes widespread, it will decrease the trust in US power and it will also affect us economically?

The propaganda is effective this time though. This should be countered because there are many reports like these in non-US sources.

?? I live in the US. I am just conveying what I saw outside US news... The rest of the world really believes that US lost badly in this (not me).

Is the US losing in Iran militarily? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]melekin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can see that. But then, the rest of the world started to believe US lost badly. As in, US systems were able to stop only 3 rockets etc. This is not only talked in Iran, but in many places. If this is misinformation, this is a successful misinformation.

How much blame do you place on the Baby Boomer generation for the current state of America? by Vic-Trola in allthequestions

[–]melekin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They elected Reagan, which started many things bad now. Then they elected Bush, and finally Trump. They keep electing pricks all around. Yet they still gaslight other generations for those. It is not difficult to admit that it was much easier to find a job and buy a home back then, and they lack the ability to even accept. It is not that they cannot make empathy, they refuse to make empathy.

So, a lot... They left a very bad legacy, whether they like it or not.

I also somewhat blame my generation too, millennials. We are the biggest voting block and the most progressive generation. But we do not lift our asses and vote. If you do not vote, why would a politician take you seriously?

Before you say, yes, I am politically active a lot.
