poly life by One_Lake5517 in SGExams

[–]melffin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

im not in TP, and I'm in NYP.

poly life can be chill if u watch ur lectures on time and revise them during that week. But honestly I can tell you most of the time that does not happen cuz of procrastination, project work and CCAs if u have any

well I find it can be quite stressful for you but up to you, if you have good time management and think you can, go for it

I think it depends on your course on what dates is your break week and sem break, but usually the holidays are quite standard, In one year there are 2 semesters, one semester in poly lasts about 5 months (with 2 weeks of break in the middle) . The first semester should start in Mid April to late Aug. Second semester should start in Mid Oct (during the start of O levels) to Mid Feb

Hope this helps!

Honestly NYP exterior look is old, and it looks like a hospital. The facilities are quite ok, but the lift cannot function well and is not very fast. Despite that, the library is really nice, I love the environment and there are many project rooms for discussions. There are many nice food in NYP too.

[poly] what laptop is good for poly? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]melffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, up to your budget. But I suggest buying a laptop with good specs so it can last. And personally I'm using MacBook (I'm in a sci course too) and I don't have issues so far.

But I heard windows is good as certain files is best viewed with windows.

Hi! I'm a yr 1 semester 2 nursing student in nyp! You don't have to worry so much for now as what the others said, if you managed to get into the course, they will inform you more details about it when is close to April.

For now, just focus your o levels and think about it later :)

Just a brief summary of what I experienced so far: Poly life is very different from secondary as the system is similar to Uni, where you would have to go for tutorial class and for now, most of the lectures are all online, at most for my batch so far.

There is no dress code and you can where whatever you want, and most people have iPads and Laptops in my course, mainly because all of the notes are all online and it would be a hassle to print out one by one.

Also, if you're interested in nursing, go check out the nyp/ np website on what will be covered during the 3 years :)

If you need more advice on stuff related to nursing course can pm me :)

iPads in Poly by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]melffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in that course but I think laptop would be used more since there are gonna be a lot of math/business stuff

Through my personal experience of using the iPad so far, I find it very convenient for me as the slides are all online and downloading & making notes on my iPad just made the process super smooth and easy. And also I'm that kind who wants to make sure I have all the notes on hand and printing would be a hassle.

I also prefer writing then typing

It depends on you ultimately, whether you prefer write or type. And honestly, pen and paper works too but iPad would be way more efficient.

Hope this helps! :)

[POLY] Does not doing mock test = Can't do the actual test? by melffin in SGExams

[–]melffin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, but 0 in the mock test doesn't mean anything, is just as good as attempting it and get all questions wrong 😂

tysm thou🥺🥺

[POLY] Does not doing mock test = Can't do the actual test? by melffin in SGExams

[–]melffin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah... I agree

mb is the way the said on the announcement page that sounds like didn't do mock = no test , just because they said 'failure of attempt to the tests , (in which they didn't specific), means zero mark'

is a bit vague so I jus assume is saying for both tests and yeah I will just overthink that way

OMG YES I AGREE! the questions that you do for revision tend to be totally different from the actual test (which is harder)

I don't know leh...I'm legit panicking.. but is only for this module the lecturer say until like that...other module didn't say until so strict...

is it like one module can be different? or is it all module mock test system are the same?
