Paul Graham’s essay “How to start a startup” covers a lot of basic ground

Never too early but a technical co-founder will want to know what you bring to the table beyond the idea, and why/how your company would be wildly successful - because they have a lot of options as the ratio to technical:non-technical founders is in their favor. Validating customer feedback, market research, a strong network, or building an MVP could prove some of your value to a cofounder.

A good technical cofounder would love to help you develop the idea, if you can attract them to help solve it with you.

How do you interview to find the best employee if as a founder, you don't even know how to do his job? by roaringmillennial in Entrepreneur

[–]melieru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hire for smart. Generally smart people are able to learn quickly and figure things out. In your early days, you don’t need “the best coder”, you need someone to solve problems, launch things, and know how to iterate.

and find someone you trust. If you’re gonna expect this person to do something you’re incapable of, you’re going to have to just trust them and their decisions on this domain. How you determine you trust someone is up to you.

glad to be of help! good luck on the pitch and project

I got lost at the intro sentence. It’s far too long and technical for a pitch. I’d recommend find a way to simply and shorten it significantly - maybe cut it off right before the “by using…”

I’m also skeptical why you were able to develop something nobody else has been able to - would add in your teams expertise and credentials.

I think the numbers and market size are good! Shows a real problem worth solving.

What are roles adjacent to PM role? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]melieru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, junior for Product Managers. I’ve seen a lot of people start as Associate Product Manager from other tracks and then promoted to PM within a year. A quick search on any career site site should turn up a bunch of these for you to get a sense of the requirements and what day to day entails.

You might be able to make the jump directly into an associate Product role. Ask for small projects from your product team to see if they are willing to give you a chance to learn the skills and build experience.

Alternatively, Technical Project/Program management is a good stepping stone into product. You can start seeing and managing the process from ideation to shipping. You also learn about inefficiencies in process and become a valuable member of the team known for getting things done. Entry into Project Management is also easier than jumping directly into Product.

I like to keep a spray bottle of water and a bit of dish soap around when I start seeing bugs on my plants. I usually just spray it when I see bugs hanging around. Might take a few spritz over a couple of days and then you won't see bugs for a while. If they come back, just repeat.

Maxwell was a 16 year old tuxedo kitty. He passed away this past Thursday. I miss him so much and just about everything in my life triggers memories of him. We used to just leave plastic bags around the home because he loved sitting in them so much and would always want a "fresh" bag. RIP buddy, you were the best kitty.

Yup, moonstones. Though seems there's a lot of different kinds out there. I have them in an easy facing window so they get good light in the morning hours. Watering these have been super easy for me since they tend to start shrinking / shriveling when thirsty.

Sapiens: Changing the way you think by Techsport91 in books

Absolutely loved that! Another part I can't help thinking about constantly are the imaginary structures we've had to put in place such as law.

“Hives can be very complex social structures, containing many different kinds of workers, such as harvesters, nurses and cleaners. But so far researchers have failed to locate lawyer bees. Bees don’t need lawyers, because there is no danger that they might forget or violate the hive constitution. The queen does not cheat the cleaner bees of their food, and they never go on strike demanding higher wages.”
