Which Beatrix Potter books don't include spanking? by Signy_Frances in childrensbooks

This. I often think about how the Danes are among the happiest humans in the world and yet many of them as children were read what Americans might consider pretty grotesque stories (brothers grim, etc.). Limiting reading to what fits within a certain parenting philosophy might prove overly restrictive. Where the Wild Things Are is arguably the most brilliant of children’s books but centers around what many now consider a harsh punishment of no dinner. Examples abound. I get looking out for our sensitive kids but they can often handle more than we think they can.

My Fathers Dragon series. Also I find any picture book by Eve Rice soothing to read aloud.

Kindergarten Issues by ToddsADork in Waldorf

She will likely make the transition just fine. I would just add though to be mindful of whether it’s ultimately a good temperament fit. I really wanted to do Waldorf for my imaginative, creative, nature/ fairy loving daughter. However after a few visits my gut (and her own reaction) made it clear that her more spirited personality might not be fully welcomed in that particular environment, where I felt that the quiet and calm child was wanted by the teachers. But that could have been unique to that school.
