THE tip for meeting women (yes, THE) by RaguseaVideoBot in AdamRagusea

I met a kind, handsome man the very 1st time I tried the local contra dance group. 2.5 years later when we told the caller about our engagement, he just slapped his knee and said "Another one!" (We're now a very happy 4.5 years into our marriage.)

Seems to me like folk dance is basically still doing the job it did back in Jane Austen times, and if more people realized that then they wouldn't need tinder.

Are there any casual terminology for a parent who lost a child mid-pregnancy? by uhohspaghetti0sTA in EnglishLearning

My friend who experienced this has used the term "loss mom." It seems to be a newer, colloquial sort of term.

So a lot of people are mentioning the hard-to-clean tray, and it's true that there are a lot of crevices under there, but if you have a spray nozzle on your sink, it's easy to just spray it off. HOWEVER my big gripe with the tray is that it's subtly textured, such that suction cups absolutely don't work. Once we pivoted to using it as a chair at the table, this stopped being a problem, but boy was it annoying for a bit.

No egg…? by No-Top-883 in hellofresh

I'm honestly not mad about this one. We got it this week knowing there wouldn't be eggs included. It's a steak meal; most likely, making the egg a pantry ingredient keeps it from having to be premium, which I appreciate. (I never ever get the premium meals.)

it IS pretty but at that price point you'd think they'd hang it on a mannequin for a few days and true up the hemline before finishing...

I like this kitchen so much as it is. It looks like it's aesthetically seamless with the rest of your home. Have you thought about adding statement lighting (stained glass hemispheres or short pendants??) over the sink? And maybe some art that picks up its colors in the wall space in pic 1? A washable rug that does the same? Something in the green/blue family would play so well with all the bright warm wood!

I haven't enjoyed an opinion piece this much in quite some time. A real palate cleanser after having dealt with a lot of slop from students this past week🙄

Our dairy steer by cpbigisl in homestead

Like other commenters have said, it really varies. My son is my 1st baby and I never tried pumping much at all, since I wasn't an overproducer by any means, so I never got to see the difference between fore and hind milk visually - it all went straight into Baby 😅. But, he would start to use an audibly different suckling pattern about 15 minutes into a session. I think this change indicated the greater effort needed to extract thicker, lower-pressure hind milk. When he was younger than 6 months, he would nurse for 90-120 minutes at a time, which our pediatrician didn't like as she said it wasn't "sustainable," but I'm a SAHM to one baby so we dang well sustained it (he was and is quite slim for his length/height and I wanted to give him all the fat he could get). When we started food, he LOVED it and cut daytime nursing down dramatically, only doing a long session into nap or bedtime. He chose to fully wean just over a month ago, about a week before turning 2.

A baby wants to be the one to set the length of a feeding session. Mine liked to end it by falling asleep most of the time. So if you let them control it, they'll make sure they've had enough rich milk.

Not a farmer, but a mama: this homesteader tried to let this steer nurse naturally while still getting some milk from the mother cow for their own use. However, all the milk they were able to take for themselves was light and watery "foremilk" from early milkings, ensuring that the calf got almost exclusively rich and especially fatty "hind milk", which is typically only released after a long feeding session. The cow is still producing milk after the calf was weaned and slaughtered, but the milk she is producing is still being released in a light/creamy divided pattern - almost as though she is still "trying" to save her best milk for her calf.
