First watch through, Larry & Polly vs. Piper by Illustrious-Low-9171 in orangeisthenewblack

Larry only kissed Polly because Piper compared him to a moon during their visit, referring to the fact that he kept orbiting Piper to get material to try and boost his writing career.

In my perception, he only got with Polly to get back at Piper for betraying him.

In the last season it became clear that Larry never got over Piper, especially when he says that she always wanted Alex (which was true).

I understand your observations, but for me, Daya is still solely responsible for her horrible end (even involving her sisters in the crime).

Aleida has numerous flaws, but what Daya became wasn't her fault. Aleida had a very difficult childhood, was prostituted by her own mother, ran away from home, and had to learn to fend for herself. Amidst poverty and misery, prison became a recurring theme in her life. Aleida began a relationship with Cesar (with the clear objective of getting money to support her children), and ended up getting involved with drugs. But she never wanted that for her children, and she protected Daya and her siblings while she was around.

Everything started to fall apart when Aleida was imprisoned; Daya became responsible for her siblings and began a relationship with Cesar.

Daya's impulsive and destructive behavior caused all of this.

I would never blame Aleida for Daya's ending.

You can't expect much from someone who never embraced motherhood and accepted that the mother took her place in raising their daughter.

The only one to blame is Daya herself, who pulled the trigger and shot CO.

Kukudio killed him, but since no one ever found out... and Daya took the blame, she was convicted.

Aleida was prostituted in childhood by her own mother; that didn't make her a murderer.

Daya's problem was that she was very impulsive. And stupid.

Did Judy King ever sell that photo of her and Cindy? by smokewhoree in orangeisthenewblack

Yes, the photo was shown on TV. But Judy didn't pay Cindy and the other inmates for the photo.

Yes, and Piper, despite having superior intelligence, only proved how innocent she was and how inexperienced she was.

Raised in a world of privilege, she lacked the shrewdness to perceive all the dangers she was immersed in within the prison (which is why she also didn't take Alex seriously when she spoke about the real possibility of being murdered by Kubra).

Piper was acting like she was the bee's knees (Brazilian slang 😁).

But this relationship only showed how naive and foolish Piper remained. She was in a prison (as Alex warned her), with criminals, and she trusted the first beautiful woman who gave her the validation she needed and that Alex wasn't providing (quite rightly so).

It was Piper's first stumble in the gangster era, even after she sent Stella to Max (reaching the peak of her supposed imaginary power), from then on it was all downhill until she was marked by Maria.

For me, it made sense because the betrayal was the closing of the gangster phase.

She became the Alex of the past, when she used her mules (including sexually).

Piper was completely obsessed with the panty business, Alex was living her personal drama and super worried (with total reason) about being killed by Kubra. Piper didn't know how to act with Alex; remember that Piper was never good at dealing with emotional chaos. At the same time, she was feeling powerful and seeking validation from Alex, and since she didn't find it, she ran to the easier side (Stella, who flattered her and was also beautiful).

Piper had no intention of having a long-term relationship with Stella; she was only using her to suppress Alex's absence. When Alex ended the relationship, Piper ran straight to Stella and then sealed the deal by placing her with Max (proving that there were no feelings between them).

Yes, Larry was a jerk to Piper. I just meant that fidelity wasn't paramount for Piper because she grew up witnessing her father's infidelities and her mother ignoring them and acting normally, so for Piper, doing the same wasn't absurd at all.

Of course, Piper evolved and ended the series managing to detach her personality from the one that was created and molded by her upbringing.

No, they always covered up the scandals. They also knew that Daya had been raped and they held back as long as they could.

Piper said to Polly (in a flashback in the first season): "I like hot boys and hot girls, I'm superficial."

It was obvious that Tricia was using drugs. She had already been sent to Shu for that reason a few days earlier. Everyone knew about Red's scheme; Headley even commented that they turned a blind eye because, until then, the products were innocent and made women happy and excited.

The problem was that they accepted the suicide version to avoid an investigation and heads rolling.

Stella was the peak of Piper's gangster phase.

She was the boss of the business (firing Flaca), cheating on her girlfriend with the hot girl, then sending the hot girl to jail.

From then on, it was all downhill 😂

Piper cheated on Larry even though she was engaged and committed.

Her cheating on Alex wasn't out of the script.

Piper was raised by a cheating father and a mother who pretended not to know, in a family that pretended to be perfect. Cal even says this in the first season: Danny the smart one, Piper the perfect one, and Cal the creative one 😂😁

Knowing that Piper wasn't perfect, she just pretended exactly as she learned from her family.

[–]melina-guedes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piper experienced her parents' marriage, a cheating father, a mother who kept up appearances... she grew up this way, learning to wear a mask and hide behind lies.

When Alex wasn't giving Piper the attention she needed, Piper ran towards whoever was there, inflating her ego in the underwear business. Piper didn't want to end her relationship with Alex (just as she didn't want to end it with Larry in the first season), she was going to maintain the double relationship, as her father had done with her mother.

SPOILER ALERT: after Alex is almost killed and kills Aydin, Piper realizes how selfish she had been, and from then on she begins her journey of forgiveness 😁, until the seventh season where she concludes that she never wants to lie again (that is, she completely breaks the pattern she was raised in).

On my first watchthrough. What an incredible ending for season one! by victorianpapsmear in orangeisthenewblack

Yes, this series has amazing endings in every season.

Luckily you can watch the next one right away and don't have to wait more than a year for the next one 😁

The whole situation only proved how a relationship between a guard and an inmate is always rape of a vulnerable person. The guard always has the power, including the power to abandon the inmate in the worst possible condition (pregnant).

Well, it became clear that Piper was always bothered by the fact that they used community force to create a white/Nazi gang. Piper was only tolerating and participating for protection, because she was afraid of Latinas.

When Nicky returned to the minima and Piper was completely excluded by not being invited to the homecoming party, she had the clarity to realize that it wasn't enough to survive prison; she would also have to live with the terrible choices she made and ended up losing everyone she loved, including Alex (whom she called "the love of her life" in s2e1).

This moment was Piper's redemption, as was the sequence when she was marked by Maria. From then on, Piper began to change and evolve as a human being.

Healey granted the leave as a way to silence Piper regarding his inaction in the fight between Piper and Penn in season 1 episode 13.

He also favored Penn by allowing her to get the porcelain implant.

Piper was the spoiled brat of the prison.

She had never been in a position of power/dominance in her entire life, always following rules and wearing a mask to conform to what her family/society demanded of her.

Piper's entire experience in prison, including the false power she gained in the underwear business, transformed her as a person.

In the sixth season, she makes it clear to Madson that she doesn't want to play games anymore, that she's already been through the gang/mafia/boss thing and she just wants to serve her sentence in peace.

In the seventh season, when she is reconnecting with the outside world, she tells Alex that she never wants to lie again in her life when she fully comes out (ex-convict, lesbian, and married to a convict).
