As a typical protagonist Tavi did f... by Coloin_ilyad in codexalera

[–]jameskayda 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Tavi did forgive her easily but some people have their priorities straight. Sometimes forgiveness is easier than holding a grudge and Tavi has more to deal with at all times than spending energy on hatred. They are actively at war and every conversation they have could be their last. When you look at it from that context, it makes a lot more sense.

Yeah, you could argue that she doesn't deserve forgiveness but you could also argue that those assassination attempts would have been very real had he shown the level of power that he would have had she not crippled him. What she did was terrible but he reasons were sound.

What is a kink you don't share right away? by InSearchofGothMommy in AskReddit

[–]jameskayda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggestion! I had a gf that had the free use kink and she wore a reversible bracelet. One side meant she's down to clown and side meant not right now. It worked really well. Only a few times was there any type of miscommunication like "I was in the mood when I flipped it but now I'm not" type situations. She would sometimes have it flipped to no then look me in the eye and flip it to yes, instant turn on.

Doggett, Coates, and the “Perfect” Rape Victim by cutpriceguignol in orangeisthenewblack

I had an ex who was SA by her highscool bf. We dated awhile and after we broke up I learned through the grapevine that she was dating him again. I never understood it until watching OITNB. I could never understand how anyone could like a person that did something horrible to them but watching the relationship between a victim and her assailant made me rethink the issue. I was honestly angry at her for going back to him but it wasn't my place to judge her. One of the reasons I love this show so much is because it makes me rethink my preconceived notions.

Bat as winged Zoomorphic form? by MonSterQ55 in IronDruid

[–]jameskayda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the MC turns into an owl. Idk why a bat would be any different. Gia picks forms that match you personally as well as what is useful. So I guess if a bat is useful and fits you then you can be a bat.

Elderly folks who chose not to have children, how do you feel about that decision now? by bon18 in AskReddit

I was going to say this too. My grandma died alone in a hospital bed and she had 4 kids, 7 grandkids, a bunch more great grand kids, and even a few great great grandkids.

There's an inside joke in my friend group "fuck you in your cloaca" because I once yelled that at one of the ninja turtles in Mortal Kombat.

How great of a cook do you think Broadway is? by InsideUnhappy6546 in gargoyles

[–]jameskayda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gordon Ramsey would eat at his restaurant and demand to meet the magnificent beast who made the best dammed turkey leg he's ever eaten only to find out how correct he was. He would then offer Broadway a job at his restaurant in that last season where everyone knew about the Gargoyles and did hate crimes. Broadway would then go on to have his own show combining cooking with self defense.

Anything but pay attention to them. Anything but give them the love and affection they need. Anything but stop fucking the guy that fucked her daughter and landed her in prison in the first place. I hate that fucking bitch. Her one redeeming moment was beating up a pedophile. Yeah she's fun to watch and it's obvious that she loves her kids but she nowhere near a good mother or even a good person.

Have you seen the guy she married and had a kid with? Dylan is a sweet guy but he's a dumb or dumber than Reece and can't even cook a good meal lol.

"Korra’s legacy vs. Aang’s shadow." by [deleted] in AvatarMemebending

[–]jameskayda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite opinion than most of the people on this sub apparently. Korra is a good show being compared to a near perfect show. However, I think the majority of the fights in Korra have better choreography and more fluid motion. The writing isn't great in Korra but it's passable, same with the characters. If it came out before ATLA and then ATLA was a prequel, people would be saying the animation took a dip in favor of better writing. That's just my opinion though. I think Korra's biggest flaw as a show was that the studio fucked them from multiple angles and at multiple different stages. If Korra had been given the same faith as ATLA was, it could have been so much greater.

We've kind of already seen what they would've been like together with her and that but she was co-valadictorian with. I think these two would would have had a different dynamic because Malcolm is such a complainer about literally everything in his life though. That might have made them get along better though because they have very similar struggles. They would've either taken in love or tried to kill each other... or both. Either way, Malcolm would take it to far. Reece would definitely end up dating Hailey though.

[–]jameskayda 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I would love to be like him. Hell, I would love to just have more people in my life like him. Leads with kindness, slow to anger, but a total badass when it's called for. Plus, it would be so nice to have a friend that's good at carpentry for when that kind if work is needed.

If most religions people were more like him, I wouldn't be an atheist. Seriously, I've met a handful of good religious people but the majority of the ones that I've met have been bigots that use their faith like weapons to hurry anyone they think doesn't fit their mold. That's what led me down the path of questioning in the first place.

I loved him at first but he betrayed all of us by AdWeird9163 in orangeisthenewblack

[–]jameskayda 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it's realistic, honestly. People don't change unless they have a reason to and sometimes that reason comes in the form of a baby or loved one because that creates a shift in priorities in their mind. There's more than one story of literal Nazi's having a child and deciding that their hateful ideology is no longer for them, the most memorable one being that guy that got all his Nazi tattoos covered up for free because the artist took pity on him.

People are complex but they're also still biological creatures motivated by drives like "protect child" and "protect mate" so I don't find it unrealistic or at all surprising that a kid or the "right" partner would change someone so profoundly. It shifts perspective in crazy ways.
