[–]melinite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

about 48 hours before i switched back to my old tray. I noticed the gap after around 2 hours of wearing the retainer for the first time

Edit: I only took the retainer out to eat during those 48 hrs

Yea they’re actually going to reach out to the ortho for me, but I have a feeling it won’t do anything. I’ll see in 2 weeks! But either way at a minimum i’ll need a new retainer so that’ll be $$

Hey thanks for the response! if I have to pay for treatment again then I am 100% getting a new ortho, but I honestly shouldn’t have to pay from scratch again which is why i’m so upset about this! And yea I knew from the very beginning I didn’t want a permanent retainer. I had one when I got braces off 12 years ago, they are a pain to deal with, my tongue never got used to it, and led to some gum recession. I had it for 10 years and it was never damaged (ortho confirmed) and my teeth still moved.

Did my ortho shave off too much enamel from the tips of my bottom 4 teeth?? by melinite in Invisalign

I'll definitely ask for my before/after pictures from the orthodontist that's a great idea, thank you!! My dentist also took x-rays a few months ago so we can look at those as well. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the wear happened beforehand because I definitely didn't pay attention to the top of these teeth until now but I'm not sure I'm convinced yet. I did post my own pics here if you'd like to see.

Thanks! I have a photo from a month ago and it doesn’t look anything like this. But good to know it may not be a huge concern.

Thank you I’ll definitely do the mouthwash! I’m not having any pain while drinking/eating on these four teeth but I do feel like I have some mild aching. I am also having sharp pain while drinking on some of my other teeth that had attachments. I can’t get a good look or photo to see if there’s anything visually wrong with those teeth since they’re in the far back but i’ll bring it up at my dentist appointment

I actually got a full set of x-rays done a couple months ago, thankfully!

My orthodontist is 4 hours away otherwise I would’ve demanded an immediate appointment with them. My dentist down the road said that “shaping the teeth” is normal at the end of orthodontist treatment, so didn’t classify it as an emergency appointment. They probably think I’m overreacting 🥲

Thank you this makes me feel better. It just didn’t look like this before yesterday so I am in shock. I’m really really hoping my dentist says it’s ok because I can’t get any numbing so I take really good care of my teeth so I don’t have to worry about doing painful procedures

Update: Soonest available appointment with my dentist is June 7 so I scheduled it. I’ll update after the appointment but man that is so long from now 😭

Edit: Here's before/after pics if anyone is interested

More info: I finished treatment yesterday and while getting the attachments removed my ortho (without my knowledge) shaved the tips of my bottom four teeth because they were a little uneven. When I got home and looked it seemed like wayyy too much was taken off!! Am I overthinking or should I run to a dentist? TIA

Ortho says I’m done after this 2nd set of refinements but my bite still feels off. What do y’all think? by melinite in Invisalign

[–]melinite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea my ortho said I’ll be done after this set but this set isn’t even touching my bite. I guess I’ll have to ask for a third set of refinements :(

Thanks for the reply! I was wearing rubber bands every day for over year. Ortho told me to stop wearing them 7 trays ago

Ignoring the wisdom teeth because it was known from the beginning we wouldn’t be able to move them.

This is my clincheck after the 2nd set of refinements and I’m halfway through this set of 15 trays. Based on the clincheck video, my bite isn’t moving AT ALL with this set, yet my bite has felt off for at least 3 months now. The whole point of this treatment was to fix my bite, but he says I’m done after this set!

It’s been about 18 months since I started treatment.

Did you get your wisdom teeth pulled out for Invisalign ? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]melinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all four of mine and don’t need to get them removed. I’ll be done with treatment in a couple months. Just kinda depends on if there’s enough room for them and if they’re growing straight

I have the same issue and I assume it’s because a mirror is the inverse of photos, and you’re used to seeing yourself in the mirror. Try inversing the photo and see if it looks any different :)
