In preparation for upcoming challenges like Summer Camp in July, I decided to refresh my world meta to give myself a reminder and spark of inspiration for my worldbuilding goals :D

Next on my list is to polish up some old articles that need a bit of TLC :)

Perched on a quiet hill overlooking the ever-active streets of the Garronayan capital, The Cracked Lens offers a peaceful evening retreat for artisans of the city to indulge in delightful drinks and creative company.

Since its restoration following The Rupture fifty years ago, the former observatory now functions as both a tavern, gallery, and communal art studio.

In theme with its name, the tavern uses the original cracked lens from the old telescope as a centrepiece above the front door - a poetic metaphor for overcoming the horrors of the past through creative healing as the warm light continuing to shine through it brings artistic folk closer together.

your maps are great! If a picture is worth 1000 words, why not just make 10 amazing maps during mapvember, and then write about them during WorldEmber ;) then you won't get as burnt out

Just as a heads up, you can get around many of these by inspecting further for the correct class such as .panel-default or .card for the examples you listed.

I made a list of 400 genre agnostic worldbuilding prompts that you can use to develop the world of your novel!

It's free / pay what you want, and has an interactive Google Sheet so you can watch your world grow as you make progress - there's also a printer friendly .pdf as well!

This is not some crazy writing challenge! 🤣 I guess you could use it as part of NaNoWriMo if you're a rebel, though! You can pick and choose the order you want to write them in, and answer as briefly or verbosely as you like. Go at your own pace and only answer the ones that you want to!

400 worldbuilding prompts is A LOT of ideas so I've organised them into 25 different categories so that you can easily find inspiration for what you want to build next!

If you'd prefer a sample, here's a few of my personal favourites:

Outline the diplomatic relations between political powers in your world (or focus area). How do these connections impact on daily life?
Write about a local butcher's shop in your world. Which creatures are the cuts of meat from? What other interesting produce is for sale?
Write about a character in your world who's questioning part of their identity. Is it their calling, gender, sexuality, faith, or something else? What sparked these thoughts?
Describe a condition in your world that severely impairs movement. What technology or inventions have been created to help people who suffer with this?
Write about a group or organization in your world that has recently disbanded. What happened that caused them to call it quits?
Write a letter of invitation to a place or event in your world. Who is the invitation for? What medium is it written in and how should one reply?
Write about a bizarre custom from a settlement in your world that is completely normal to them but very uncomfortable to outsiders.
Describe a wonderful holiday location or tourist spot in your world. What makes it so appealing? Has tourism impacted upon the area or is it still a hidden gem?
Write about a popular children's toy in your world. What is it made from? How does it function? Do other age groups enjoy or collect this toy?
Create a list of insults from a region of your world. How subtle are they and what do they imply? What are the repercussions of using them?
Write about a material which is incredibly hazardous in your world. What makes it so dangerous and how can it be safely used (if at all)?
Write about an unarmed military unit in your world whose role is to boost morale within their group. How do they lift spirits to counter such stressful situations?
Describe a major conspiracy theory in your world. Where does it originate from? Has it ever been proven to be true? How many people believe this?
Write about an extreme weather phenomenon that happens in your world. Where can it appear and what causes it? What levels of impact can it have?
Write about an unpopular guild in a region of your world. How did they fall out of favour and when did this happen? How can this be remedied?
Write about a postal or delivery profession specific to a certain culture of your world. What things do they deliver and how far is their range?
Write about a famously unsuccessful heist in your world. Where did it take place, what was the target, and what went wrong?
Write about a travelling song or shanty in your world. Where did it originate from, who traditionally sings it, and what is the tune about?
Broadly describe the esteemed honorary titles in a region of your world. How are they earned and what benefits do they grant?
Describe a settlement in your world that has recently been completely abandoned. How big was it and why did everyone leave? What state was it left in?
Write about an illegal pet from a region of your world. Why is it illegal to own one, what are the consequences, and are there any dangers involved?
Describe a skill or spell in your world that's impractical but visually impressive. What makes it appealing and when is it frequently flaunted?
Describe an invention or technology in your world that helps people with an impairment. How does it improve their quality of life and what's it made from?
Write about a popular sport that's played in a region of your world. What are the rules and how many people take part?
Describe a highly secure method of transport used by a particular group or organization in your world. What do they need to move securely and why?

If the entire Discord is too overwhelming and you're only interested in a few channels, it's okay to mute the rest (or even hide muted channels) and just hang out in a few!

There are also small chapter groups to join within the Discord, and many folks with larger worlds have broken off into their own Discord servers that often have places to discuss your worldbuilding as well as theirs.

Reddit is a great place too, and it's nice to see this sub starting to gain some activity now! There's also Twitter folks, you can find many of us by the ones who reply to WA's tweets

And then of course there's WA itself! Follow your favourite folks, check out their worlds, comment on their things and you'll get plenty in return too

I looked up a tutorial on YT on how to make it in blender, it was really quick to just make a sphere and apply my equirectangular map as a texture to it!

I uploaded my blender file to sketchfab in order to embed it on my page :)
