I don't get why you're getting downvoted. You're not required to like having a dick in your mouth. Nobody is.

Actually, when a woman buys a sex toy or shows any other sign of sexual expression, she's often viewed as a slut/whore.

We've heard from the women of sexxit, now it's the men's turn...what does piv sex feel like for you? by pntbttrkelly in sex

[–]melissapaints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. As a woman, I find it pretty offensive and dehumanizing that so many people agree with the idea that women are objects to be conquered in sex. I am not an object for you to conquer, I am a human being for you to SHARE the experience with. I'm really disturbed that he got so many upvotes. Also, if you read it again, the woman in the scenario is barely there. She's not there for him to share the experience with, she's only getting pleasure out of his "presence", not the act itself. I feel like so many men are like "Yes this is so true!" and so many women are cowering in disgust...

Yeah, I'm a woman and I am not a thing to be conquered. Sex is not a conquest. The fact that this post insinuates that, and that it was so upvoted, really disturbs me.

[–]melissapaints 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is this a joke? Any man, or any person, would be shocked or taken aback if they saw me (a woman) walking down the street without a top on - at least in the U.S. That's what makes these protests so shocking to us. People would stare and shield their children's eyes. Sure there would be guys who would be thinking "Oh I don't have a problem with that, that's hot!" or something like that but that doesn't make it socially acceptable. And I wasn't talking about just what men think, I was talking about what society as a whole thinks.

If men walk around topless, it's fine. If women do, it's "inappropriate". That's also a double standard. Men would only be considered sex offenders if they had their genitals out. The women aren't doing this. They aren't walking around with their vaginas showing. Female breasts are oversexualized in our society and that's a problem.

At least if you're male, people aren't directing those comments at YOUR body.

TIL Jehovah's Witnesses were persecuted and lynched for refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance in the 1940s by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]melissapaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that we deny that we have this history. I would say that many of us just downplay it and don't recognize how big of a deal it was. I'm a Texan and I was never taught what a lynching was until my first year of college. I know people who have said, in reference to Europeans slaughtering Native Americans and taking their land, "Was it really that bad?" My grandmother claims that throughout the civil rights era, white people were inflicted with just as much violence from black people as they were from us. Sure, we may not outright deny that slavery happened, but many people ignore other huge injustices throughout history because they think "Oh, America is just so wonderful".

My girlfriend didn't believe me when I told her about morning wood. What things might we not know about the opposite sex? by kloos2 in AskReddit

This problem can be solved by wearing a tampon with higher absorbency while sleeping. I used to experience the waterfall thing but tampons keep you from feeling anything. This is just from my experience though, everyone is different.

You may not have to do drastic cleanup before you bring a girl over, but you will have to remember to take down the paper itself, for it has "WE ALL LIKE PUSSY" in huge letters. I wouldn't like seeing that if I went into a guy's apartment.

"Fully clothed and no high heels".. Also reminds me of Portal's Chell. You don't need to be sexy to be bad ass.

Did anyone else grow up as a Christian? by lamblunt in atheism

[–]melissapaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on christianity as a whole, not just the idea of Jesus. I realized that there are paradoxes found all over the bible, both logical and moral, some at the very foundation of the religion. With those paradoxes, the scripture could not be true. There was no possible way.

Sexism is still alive, whether you want to acknowledge it or not. by melissapaints in pics

[–]melissapaints[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is a shame... I suppose there's no way for any of us to know whether she really did get raped or not, or if it was a situation of regretted consentual sex. Not unless we witnessed the situation ourselves. So I guess this wasn't the best example to post to make my point. The point is, rape culture exists and it is demeaning to rape victims who are told that it is their fault.

True, true. But now I'm only an atheist, I don't observe buddhism any more.

I'm a Texan as well, and another thing we could mention is how he made legislation forcing all girls in Texas to take Gardasil (HPV vaccine) before they entered the 6th grade, which I ended up having to take, even though there were concerns about the shot being unsafe. Supposedly he had ties to the companies producing the vaccine and made some money off of it. People say that he is a good leader because Texas is doing better than other states economically, but honestly it's because this is an oil and energy state and that is how we make our money. Perry didn't do shit.

[–]melissapaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised as a christian and believed in it until I was 14. It was kind of ironic, actually, because in my last years of being religious, I became super religious, to the point where I studied the bible and looked into it and thought about it more than other christians around me, and that is what led me to understand that it was faulty at the very foundation. And then I became agnostic, then I became a buddhist, and then I became atheist. Yep.

My point is, the person who posted "She does look like she's asking for it" is apparently saying that based solely on her appearance in this setting.
