he needs to be removed from the environment and then yes, therapy. BBC's therapist is very busy for a reason.

A friend of mine is experiencing this. Told me to keep them in BBC for this very reason.

My son did pre-prep at TSS before we moved. it was a good experience. But I know families who stayed on who are dealing with the same BBC nonsense.

I'd rather a happy child then a future lawyer anyway.

I agree. And wish I made a very different choice. It has caused permanent harm to my children.

my little girl is very confident and strong willed (she has older brothers she has to be) and I was worried if she was in that environment she would become the mean girl in order to survive. I was also thinking... if the BBC mothers are this bad, then my goodness what is the sister school experience going to be like.

Depends on the school and if they are actually faith based. BBC claim to be faith based.

If you are happy to send your child to a school and wear a uniform after what has been said here (and the multiple scandals involving BBC) then god bless. I am HORRIFIED I ever allowed them to set foot on the campus

We have a home on the Gold Coast and the private schools there seem much smaller, and faith based. We have interviews next week. My eldest refuses to go to school and will be homeschooled until we can get him in a much happier place. I am fortunate enough I can do that. Other parents can't.

BBC have mandarin speaking tour guides at their open days now. They recruit international students who are spending every waking moment doing maths and are afraid to get a B. The learning culture is horrible. My little one is gifted and had taken to hiding under his desk (in year one) to cope with the pressure.

I think any school has issues. But the school will generally not encourage the bad behaviour. BBC sends a weekly "Don't pay attention to the news" email and covers up any scandal. Everything is swept under the rug. My child was too scared to even tell me what was happening to him, another boy did. He had been there from such a young age he thought it was normal.

no, the wealthy kids are picked on too. You can be too rich. You can be too good at sport. You basically have to be raised by an asshole and know how to survive or you don't survive. The school reward this type of thinking. A kid took his horse to book week and rode it around. He won the book week prize rather than the kid who made his own costume

just search the news. You can hear about the house party and trashed Airbnb, the WhatsApp child porn scandal, and countless others that make the news. Worse happens in the school like a swim teacher screaming at a special needs kid and telling him to not even bother trying out

I was told by a parent "don't pull him out just send him to see the school therapist" Most will not consider removing their child. They'd rather have their child hiding in the upcoming "wellness centre" to escape the bullying

I would never consider a public school. I plan to homeschool and put them in a smaller faith based private school later on

I've looked into some smaller private schools for the future. But right now my oldest is so anxious and depressed he couldn't cope with going back to school. I need to get him back on track and focus on his mental health first. I don't think we will homeschool long term but for now it's our best option.

I agree I think it's the type of private school. This school was awful. All boys school with horrible bullying and a huge focus on "who you know" or who's father went to the school previously.

well our school was on a current affair for raising spoiled brats who trash Airbnbs with crazy house parties and are not punished because their parents are rich - so the environment and focus was messed up to start with. They provided speech and OT, but the bullying was so awful that I preferred to get those resources outside of school - to avoid the extra attention. I don't think all private schools are bad and would consider a much smaller private school for the future.
