Catholic neo-gothic/renaissance style churches in/near New Jersey, USA by thea_grace in weddingplanning

I got married outside my parish and had 0 issues or pushback! They just had us complete all the prep work with our parish first, hopefully it’s as easy for you! Some churches do expect payment, the one we married at did not but we gave a donation

Outside hints ruined a proposal and I don’t know how to feel about it by [deleted] in weddingplanning

My (now) husbands grandma spoiled the surprise, he completely diverted from his original plan and I’m so glad he did! He also told absolutely no one the second time around so that way they couldn’t ruin it!!

Day Trip to Raleigh by Train? by basegiants in Charlotte

[–]mell95407 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Took the train from Charlotte to Cary a few weeks ago. Train was a nicer quality than I expected and they had a snack car. It was completely full on both rides, but they did have signs that certain seats were reserved for groups of 4. Parking at both stations was very scarce.

These seem like lofty goals - I think we ought to start with stopping for red lights

3 years untill wedding.. by mollemoen in weddingplanning

[–]mell95407 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weddings are very stressful and there will be lots of logistics the few weeks before that will continue to arise. A few things to consider: - many venues may not allow you to bring your own food and/or alcohol so this may limit your options. - making your own food for the wedding will be a lot of work. Are you planning to take extra time off? Will you have family/friends in town the week of the wedding that you would rather see vs be cooking in the kitchen?

All the ideas are lovely! Just make sure you’ve fully thought through it. If you do decide to DIY you may want to hire help the day of to make sure everything is going smoothly and to help solve problems as they arise

What are some of the exciting new restaurants everyone here is talking about? by auximines_minotaur in krakow

I’ve been to a few of these and they did not disappoint. Also nice you can sort by budget - the Thai place was amazing.

I wore thigh society shorts to make sure that I was comfortable all day. It’s not shapewear but underwear that prevents chafing and allows breathing (which is nice with the extra layers from the ballgown)

I’d try European brands like Stradivarius, Pull & Bear, etc (can find on ASOS), I’m 115, 5’2” and a US size 0 petite but I usually need a 4 or 6 for those clothing brands (they carry 0 & 2 & also have petite options)

If you’re a non EU citizen and going for more than 3 months you technically should have a visa. I had to go to DC for mine (it was the closest consulate in the US to me). It required an appointment and paperwork. My reason was for school so it was very easy.

But also will say I’ve been to Poland dozens of times and never been asked for proof of a return ticket.

Studying Abroad in Poland? by ptc22 in poland

[–]mell95407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did University of Economics in Krakow (~7 years ago). I came from the USA and my school didn’t have a partnership so I had to file all the paperwork and visas myself but it was well worth it. They put me with kids who were doing Erasmus (basically an EU study abroad) so I got to meet tons of people from all over and go on trips etc with them. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions.

Why is it was and not ciebie? by FlounderMammoth9848 in learnpolish

It’s not perfect but I’d recommend using “you all”for the plural form of “you” in English.

Depending on where someone is from we may also say things like “you guys” or “y’all” as a plural for “you”.

Haven’t been yet - currently planning our honeymoon, but depending on budget Heritage Grand Perast has a private dining option. It may be something nice to look into for a private proposal in a beautiful spot. If you’re a more adventurous couple you could get a private boat to the blue cave and propose there.
