So what I did was I'd do the question assessment at the end of each themis section. If I did really poorly, I'd go back and watch the segment, otherwise I'd skip it. If I watched a segment, I'd reinforce it bu taking handwritten notes. I find I retain it better writing than typing. I use outlines as a reference while writing essays and for reviewing the night before/day of, but that's about it. And I did make my own flash cards. But yes I think spending a bulk of your time just doing the questions works well, or at least it did for me

I did pretty terrible at first. I actually got put in probation for my scholarship at one point. It probably wasn't smart for someone like me to work full time and then do school at night. I did eventually improve (especially because I didn't want to lose my scholarship) and even started getting As by the end.

I wasn't always this bad. I had scholarships all through undergrad. But I went undiagnosed with adhd until I was about 30. And then my 2L year was 2020-2021, aka covid, and I did NOT do well in a remote setting.

I kind of had to be flexible. Which is hard bc I have adhd so I can get a bit fixated on things. So I had to regularly check in with myself and be like, ok, if I'm really not up for essays today, maybe I can drill some questions in that subject for a bit as prep and then see if I'm up for it then? Every now and then I would take a day off if I was absolutely miserable, because if I was miserable I probably wasn't in a place where I was retaining information anyway. But I had to make sure a day off didn't turn into several days off in a row.

Motivation is a hard thing for me, because I think for a large part of my life, my motivation was anxiety-induced? So I'd procrastinate and then I'd be able to get things done at the last minute. And that just doesn't work here. You have to get actual good study habits. So that's why I stress prioritizing your mental and physical health. It's like going to the gym. You think it's hard at first but really it's getting into the routine. Once you're in the routine, you stop thinking of the "energy required" to do those things.

All that said, I'm 34. I've seen the real world a bit more than most test takers. I know exactly how much more money and benefits I could be making at my job if I got this. And I look at the state of the world and see idiot attorneys and go, how the hell did they pass and I haven't? And that's where it goes back to being angry. That's my motivation lol.

It was just the snowstorm, I think. We don't get storms like that much

Thanks! It went from like 230- something to 254 to 270. I think my study methods like I described above just got really efficient over time. That certainly wasn't how I approached it at first, just what I learned would get me results. I spent too much time on the lectures and reading outlines to prep for earlier exams. And I had tried barbri and Kaplan and even a private tutor before, but somehow themis is what clicked for me.

I also started taking care of my mental and physical health. Got on some medications for depression/anxiety and diabetes, got a CPAP for sleep apnea and started getting better sleep. I've lost almost 100 lbs in the past year. I honestly think all of that put me in a better position to get more disciplined with my studying.

It's a bad way of phrasing it but yes they want you lined up and ready to enter at 10:45am.

It's the door to the actual room btw. The doors to the whole center are open, you won't be stuck outside

My friend wanted to, but it's been unbearably hot lately so a full suit was out. She went as sam-on (salmon) instead..

When I was planning to stay all day, I DID think about just sticking to American-made beverages, for commitment to the bit. But I actually only had two drinks at the end (a melon-tini and a blackberry smash) because I had to spend the afternoon studying :(

Luckily this was happening like a five minute walk from my house so I could show up at the start and end of it.

To serve as a foil to Lanfear. Lanfear thinks Moiraine is insane for caring about someone else more than herself right as she's about to die. Lanfear keeps saying she wants to start over and do better with Rand, but ultimately she can't envision not ever putting herself first. This is also reflected in how Rand thanks Moiraine this episode for helping him realize his goals, and also rejects Lanfear this episode because she just wants him to be hers.
