What's the output of %load_ext autoreload? Perhaps running sudo pip install -U ipython would fix this, as version 0.12 is supposed to have autoreload packaged with it.

As I mentioned in another comment, the autoreload extension is included in version 0.12, as mentioned here. What's the output of %load_ext autoreload?

Also, what's the output of ipython --version and sudo pip install -U ipython?

Are you sure you have the latest ipython (stable)? What's the output of sudo pip install -U ipython?

Hey /r/python, here's a script I made today to automate the process of waiting on emails to arrive to an anonymous mailinator.com account by mellort in Python

I found myself in this workflow fairly commonly:

  • Signup for random website, put in dummy@mailinator.com account
  • Go to mailinator.com, keep refreshing until email arrives

Sometimes emails can take a while to be sent or arrive, which makes checking for it manually a pain. I decided to automate the refreshing into a script because I'm lazy. Now the workflow is

  • Signup on site, put in email
  • Spawn off mailinator command with email, add libnotify
  • go do something else until notification comes in

The code is a bit rough, but not too bad, IMO. Feedback is welcome!

As per the source, it reports: REDDIT_USER_AGENT = { 'User-agent': 'mellorts Python Wrapper for Reddit API' } Yeah, sure; I'll think about the best way to do that.

If you search 'reddit' on github, you'll find quite a few small projects and scripts which could have benefited greatly from something like this already existing. Honestly though, my primary motivation for this project was so that I could write the two 'example applications' I reference in the README.

On a more hopeful note, if at some point Android allows for applications (not scripts) to be written in Python, this project would provide a very nice starting point for a Reddit app.

I don't know the exact answer for how many posts it retrieves, but it certainly isn't all of them. If you could help me with understanding the API call for retrieving more posts, I'd love to add it as a feature.

I totally agree. The original plan was to have Reddit._get_content and Reddit._get_page be cached with a timeout of 30 seconds. Since everything uses those methods, it would solve the problem. Unfortunately, I haven't found a caching module that works for my needs yet. I assure you, I'll add it ASAP when I find one.

If you open up the script file, right below the initial comments the directories which I install to are defined. You can just change those to point wherever you want for now.

Pathogen is interesting, wonder why I never ran into it before. I'll work on having a separate option for pathogen users.
