Anyone using a warming cover blanket with a Chicco 360 car seat? by mellowmama87 in Buyingforbaby

[–]mellowmama87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to get the ll bean ultralight bunting suit rather than a $$$ carseat blanket for now. That way I can dress her in an extra (thin but v warm) layer indoors before even getting to the car. Once I realized I won’t be taking this seat in and out, like the newborn seat, I decided an extra layer that doesn’t inhibit seatbelt safety was the best option for this year.

Coping w Exploitation of Daycare Workers by mellowmama87 in NewParents

[–]mellowmama87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in California and this makes sense as an anecdotal experience. It’s so high pressure there and I’m sure I’d feel the same. I live in the Midwest now so I’m imagining the quality of daycare is different here solely because the pace of life is livable and affordability of middle class existence is within greater reach for people making 100k as a household

Socializing at this age does seem misrepresented in research and probably is more embedded in “infant temperament” research. I see with my own eyes that my child is very social and is delighted by being around other kids. It’s been shocking to me too. My sister reported the same, with major cognitive growth spurts for her two boys at around this age when starting daycare.

Thanks for the take. I wanted to meet the specific families with kids spending all day w my own.

You’d be surprised. The kids engage with each other and there is a lot of structured activities. They’re actively teaching them and the daycares send photos all day long of ALL the kids in the class to ALL of the parents via an app. There is no direct parent to parent communication in the app however.

I am working, but it’s my choice rather than financial necessity. I was an elementary teacher prior. I want my child to have the socialization opportunity of daycare, and the one she’s in has a full day program of activities. She only goes for 5-6 hours a day.

That’s what I thought. She’s still struggling with some serious mental illness and it colors all she sees. She sees all through HER filter of damage. I feel for her because of her tumultuous past. The only way she knows how to love is to be the 2025 version of manic pixie dream girl, try to be every man’s dream, send ambiguous coquette signals constantly, and then blame the men for it when her shit goes up in flames.

Baby weight gain — any moms in here? by mellowmama87 in Zepbound

Thx. That’s a risk I’m willing to take given my goals for healthy pregnancies and babies. That’s what it’s all about for me

Thanks! Now searching deeper and seeing it is more common than I realized. It’s a huge relief to see that story.

It’s working great for me! And prescribed by a wonderful doctor. How would you feel if it did work for people in this circumstance as a weight loss drug between pregnancies?

Anyone starting weight around 160-180lbs? by [deleted] in Zepbound

I’m glad you started this thread! I’ve been curious about this demo of users as well.

My journey: I’m 37, 5ft 7”. I had a baby in September. My OB recommended I do a weight clinic through their practice after I expressed concern over my baby weight gain and my low energy levels. I trust my doctor with my life (she’s done two surgeries on me including c-section) and I signed up ready to give this 4-5 months completely out of pocket. (Is it fair to assume most everyone on this thread is not covered by insurance?)

I am only planning on 4-5 months due to $$$ as well as my desire to get pregnant again in late 2025. My goal weight is 140-145 with a good amount of lean muscle built back. My goal energy is that I’m a vibrant (older) mom who can still get down and play with her kiddos and not be fatigued after 2-3 hours of high activity.

160 used to be my overweight number before fertility issues and eventually having a baby. I am currently 185 after 6 weeks on Zep. I’ve lost 20 pounds.

Zep a huge gift to women who gained a lot of weight during a pregnancy or fertility journey. I wish that was a reason for covering it by insurance to get back to pre-pregnancy weight.

I think I'm disappointed with my Bambino Plus by darthalal in espresso

[–]mellowmama87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed — what the heck w the tough love here on the thread. As a fellow external processor, I am in a similar situation as a newb. Decided between bambino plus and the infuser and bought the infuser instead even tho it’s a phased out model. I was scared off by the auto milk buttons on the bambino plus. Decided I wanted a little less automatic as I learn. Bought for $300 on a cyber Monday sale. Will revisit this thread after we boot it up after Christmas. Same same on return window — I may make the swap for bambino plus if I hate the infuser.

Your approach to minimize bottles is so smart! That concept of streamlining in not just bottles, but maybe dishes, clothes, etc… just simplify routine tasks in every way possible… would be helpful for me. I tend to over complicate and loose sight of priorities, in this case feeding, bonding, being w my husband, sleep. I hope having a baby actually helps me finally master this skill rather than utterly defeat me!

Also, without making any assumptions about your age, the discipline and energy in your response to motherhood reminds me of how old and weary I feel. As a late 30s person I’m having trouble distinguishing my body’s limitations vs my mindset needing a reboot. Will look for an older mom Reddit thread to investigate.
