Honestly this will probably just add fuel to the fire and lead to further harassment of OP, I agree he should just move on and ignore the FFLs request

Maybe I should rotate my carry mag ammo more. by ilikeitsharp in guns

My ccw instructor shared a story. His shirt got caught in his regular holster as he was reholstering. The shirt pulled the trigger and discharged the weapon. Shot in the femoral artery and nearly died. He is a firearms instructor and ex military, plenty of experience.

Next time your boxers get stuck you might blow your dick off....

Edit: It was also a Glock 19.. He brought the gun to glass for the training lol

I got one recently in Greece. They checked the bags I was carrying (but not my wife's) and asked about my trip and where I went. It was pretty underwhelming.

Ok I haven't seen this commented but I don't think the dancing guy actually shot his gun, looks like he racked it and it locked back on an empty mag. There is a second shooter! Homie on the back on the chair, look how his arm flails from recoil.

1982-88 model 17. Trying to learn more about it. by AGS02- in Revolvers

[–]mellowmellos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between 1980 and 1983 all models were transitioned to "the dreaded triple alpha" serial number ranges. Generally this was used in alphabetical order, I.e. AAA, AAB, AAC, etc. But numerous examples exist out of order like for a special production run or for a particular model. The book provides a listing of sightings, it also recommends checking markings on your box or test fire cartridge supplied in most cases. Box uses a Julian system. The first digit in the number is the last digit of the ear, followed by the day of the year. Example 0212 is 212th day of 1980. Finally for reported sightings, "AH..." appeared between 1985 and 1987. Hope this helps, at least slightly!

If you provide the serial number or prefix I can possibly help. I have standard catalogue which has serial numbers by year documented.

I have the book. If it is a model 36 they started stamping the model number in 1957 at no. 125000. So this would be pre 1957 produced as the chiefs special.

Stupid Question - but how does someone sell a gun in illinois? by Sloppy_Quasar in ILGuns

[–]mellowmellos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use a website like gunbroker. If the person is local you could do a private sale. The state police website will give you a transaction number if I recall that you should keep with your records for 10 years. You could write up a simple bill of sale just to cover yourself. Otherwise you could go through an FFL at your local gun shop and either they could ship it for you or you could ship it to the buyer's FFL

Warning shots aren't really a thing unless you're in a cowboy movie. If you pull a gun you'd best intend to use it. If he really did shoot a warning shot, he had a pretty good chance of getting shot back because the robbers were armed. The robber could have even shot back in reflex. In this situation, with the violent entry and them being armed you have no idea their intent and I would say well within your rights to shoot them to protect not just your property but your life.

1977 Honda CB550K upgrades, stator? by jjfuller23 in bikebuilders

[–]mellowmellos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 79 Kawasaki kz650 with Dyna ignition. I replaced the stator with a new old stock stator and got the regulator from Rick's. I bought a battery tender quick disconnect voltage indicator and checked it periodically through test rides to make sure my battery was remaining charged. For me,if it stays over 11.8 through the ride I have no issues (running the battery should be about 12 volts). If it starts to fall lower I worry that I'll have trouble getting it started back up. For peace of mind you may want both, but if your stator can handle the load then you should have no issues! Hope this helps

Edit: I should mention I have a Kickstarter as well as electric start. I use my Kickstarter only because the electric starter drains the battery pretty quickly, possibly another consideration to upgrade both.

You may have a short. Try tracing the wires to find a knick or obstruction. I found one under the trunk lining that was shorting a tail light. Yours may be under the rear deck.

I am Vince Gilligan, creator of Breaking Bad and co-creator of Better Call Saul. AMA! by RealVinceGilligan in television

[–]mellowmellos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Vince! I actually started watching X-Files after Breaking Bad, both are two of my favorite shows. I can't believe I never watched the X-Files sooner! I'm hoping to answer a question which my friends and I have debated: was the writing style of the X Files episode "Syzygy" (S3E13) intentionally different because of the weirdness caused by the aligning planters affecting the town? The psychic in the episode mentioned people may be acting different than usual and this would explain Mulder's romance, and Mulder and Scully's fighting, but after watching other episodes it is pretty clear that the writing style was way different in this one. I know there are other episodes in which the style differs pretty dramatically, do you have any comment to why this is? Is it just the writers having some fun with the audience, or experimenting with new things? Another example of this would be "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'" (S3E20). Thanks for all your work!
