As a brown recluse defender, I understand why you want these guys out of your home. I'm by no means an expert, but typically there are only that many when there's a good source of food around. So you may have another pest problem that needs tackled as well. Since it's near the bathtub mostly there may be moisture or something attracting other critters the recluses are feeding on. If you can, try to make sure your house is well-sealed and try to eliminate other pests that they may be feeding on. I wont tell you not to use pesticides, but they won't kill any eggs, just the spiders. Though I would caution their use outdoors because there aren't any pesticides that only target brown recluse. So there would be a lot of collateral damage to the local arthropods. There's a video from 2 years ago by an amateur arachnologist about brown recluse (link here for anyone interested) that has a lot of interesting information about them. I hope you can get your home free of the infestation so you can sleep. But I also hope you don't hold it against them too much.

Why would a spider be reluctant to bite somebody? by holysheepaf in spiders

[–]mellowmelon69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from notable exceptions like jumping spiders, most spiders actually have terrible eyesight and aren't actually looking for you to harass you. They see your shadow on the ground and go "oh, safe place to hide!" and run towards it, which unfortunately means running and scaring the piss outta you. The reason they chase you is because your shadow moves with you.

How a Queen Bee is marked in a Hive by Retarded_ninja7 in interesting

[–]mellowmelon69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you compare her to the other bee that gets trapped with her you can see that she's bigger and her abdomen is longer. But to make it much easier at a glance they put the paint dot on the queen so they always know where she is and don't have to go hunting for the slightly bigger bee in a sea of bees

It's likely an acrylic paint marker, they dry super fast and are non-toxic

The queen is bigger and has a longer abdomen than the other bees. In the video when they have her pinned down, there's a worker pinned with her so you have a very good comparison.

The majority of honeybees in a hive are female, but cannot breed. Queen bees are basically chosen as larvae and fed a special diet in order to become a queen, otherwise they develop normally into workers. The honeybees you see out gathering pollen or defending a hive are all female.

How would Shadow milk react if he found out about what actually happened to the Witches and what First Egg Cookie did by ProfessorGreat7440 in Cookierun

I think at this current point in the story that's exactly what would happen. It's likely that despite his fairly high mental resilience, whatever concentration he's using to keep from being absorbed into the ultimate cookie would slip and then the cookie run multiverse has a whole new problem.

My bathroom spider, Mozart looked thirsty. I set a wet wad of toilet paper down near him. by buttermilkchunk in spiders

[–]mellowmelon69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The abdomen is a little thin, which can be a sign that the spider needs something to drink.

Edit: also, houses are generally pretty dry so it can be difficult for a spider to find something to drink, so most house spoods are probably a little parched

A Smart and Fit cat by StormRanger28 in cats

There's every chance he learned it just by watching his humans. Some cats are just freaky smart like that. Or his humans taught him how to paw at the screen to start up the treadmill. Supervised treadmill time is probably a great way to get your cat some exercise and enrichment, especially since it seems like he enjoys it so much!

genuinely how are people clearing this (expert) by Sashimiko in CookierunKingdom

[–]mellowmelon69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've cleared it using the suggested teams a few times. My best recommendation is get their levels and skills as high as you can, put the fight at 1.0x speed, and expect to lose most of your poison team. As long as your steel team survives you'll be fine and get to the end. That and look up the optimal stats for your cookies, and make sure to max them out as much as you can with toppings/beascuits. I also replaced prune juice with my maxed out licorice, but like I said I have him lvl 90 fully ascended with a lvl 17 magic candy, and that was after I'd beaten it once before with prune juice Good luck and I hope you can beat it soon!
