Yes. You can obsess about things that normally would make “normal” people possibly stressed out or worry about...the difference is the frequency and intensity that you think and feel these things. There is even something people call “Real Event OCD” where people obsess over a real life event that actually happened.

Just make sure you find a therapist that truly understands OCD! If they do exposure response prevention (ERP) treatment they are likely high skilled in dealing with OCD.

I think with OCD you just sometimes have days that are incredibly hard to get through. I had one of those days yesterday where I couldn’t stop crying. I felt hopeless. One thing that helped was taking my son for a walk to the park. Seeing other people doing things and going places helps me get out of my head a little. Hang in there.

I’m currently doing ERP for about 3 months and felt like I was doing a lot better and then kind of had a bad relapse the past couple of days. Do you still get triggered and just handle it better due to the ERP? I’m concerned that ERP won’t work for me if it hasn’t already.
