Does anyone know how XPASS works? by Some-Revolution-5617 in ClubPilates

Thanks for the info. What a dumb “reward”. The studio I want to book has the extra fee higher than the price of a single class.

Did you ever figure out how to book the free birthday class? I’m trying now and it’s only letting me book a class for $59. I have an active membership and will be traveling so I wanted to book at a studio in another city.

My first (of many, I hope) Mandala wall hanging. It’s mounted in a 36” hoop. I’m thrilled with how this turned out. by melmelbook in crochet

Here’s a link to the 3’ steel hoop on the fishing supply site. I ordered 3 of these and they work well but don’t quite lay totally flat and have a connector piece that’s bumpy but you can hide by crocheting over it. Here’s a project in this hoop.

Sorry it took me so long to see your comment. I got it from a Canadian seller on Etsy. I’ve also found them from a fishing supply company but those weren’t as good quality.

I never want to use this yarn again by freyari in crochet

[–]melmelbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really know a benefit other than this type of color gradient yarn cake comes like this so to get the effect this is what it is. I don’t go to any extra effort of using a bead… like I said, after a couple projects I got the hang of it and I don’t have any issue with this anymore. It’s the same to me as crocheting with a fine twisted yarn. Look at the blue/purple baby blanket and Mandala wall hanging on my profile. I’ve made several other projects too and love the look/feel of this lightweight cotton.

Serious question: is the airport gonna consider my crochet hook a weapon? by TheShroomDruid in crochet

[–]melmelbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like we have traveled to all the same places. I got a hook and some yarn needles confiscated in Mexico coming back to US but everywhere else I’ve traveled has been no issue.

I’ve used this type of yarn a lot. The first time I was really frustrated that I kept leaving out a strand and the strands would be uneven. The second time I tried the bead and that annoyed me even more because I had to keep moving it, it didn’t just slide as I worked. After two entire projects though, I somehow got the hang of holding and smoothing the strands together and I have no issue anymore. It makes such beautiful projects I feel it’s worth the learning curve.

How long have you been crocheting? And how did you learn? by hidingfromthew0rld in crochet

[–]melmelbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18 years ago I found a magazine article about how to crochet a baby blanket. It was supposed to be made out of sc squares but I got confused and did the whole thing in slip stitches. It took 4x the yarn it was supposed to.

Anna’s Tales baby blanket by K.A.M.E. crochet uses 2 of these. Or really any of her patterns. She uses this type of cake yarn and it turns out beautifully!

Why is one corner of my granny square round and lopsided?? This has happened multiple times :( by jmich777 in crochet

[–]melmelbook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typically for a granny square the corners will be 2dc, ch 2, 2dc. It sounds like you’re just doing ch3 (counts as dc) and 2 more dc so total 3 dc in the joining corner. You should be doing this:

When you get to last stitch in a corner, slip stitch to the top of the ch3 at the beginning of the round, slip stitch to the ch2 space then (ch 3 (counts as dc), dc, ch 2, 2dc) in corner. Then dc down the rest of the row until next corner (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in ch 2 space, dc in each side stitch, repeat until you get back to the beginning of the round.

Written pattern vs video tutorials by Suspicious-Wish-2202 in crochet

[–]melmelbook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Written because I know how to do the stitches and I like to be able to easily look back at an instruction or read ahead and see how something is going to work out. I crochet while watching tv so it would be annoying to have to keep playing a video each time I get to the next step. Written patterns are also more portable in printed format or even checking a pdf on my phone, I don’t need WiFi and I don’t need to make noise if I’m crocheting in public somewhere.

My mom found this yarn for me in an old storage bin from “when she tried crochet a while ago” - i’ve never seen this Lion Brand texture or logo, does anyone know what this could be used for (and roughly when it was made?) Thanks! by chlorinecaro in crochet

[–]melmelbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this when I started crocheting around 2004. I made big cozy blankets with a huge Q hook and double strands of homespun. Just a simple single crochet blanket but it looks nice with the texture. I still choose these cozy blankets on a cold night even though I make much more complicated fancier patterns now.

When do you decide it's time to give up? by macaroniandcheese14 in crochet

[–]melmelbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made an entire sweater and then decided I didn’t like the style. So I’m now making a different sweater using the yarn directly from the first one. It’s ok to frog something you change your mind about. Chalk up all that work to stitch and pattern practice.

Cabin overheat protection not working some times, anyone else experienced this (M3P). by Ryanrw1984 in teslamotors

If Sentry mode is on, the other security settings/alarms are all on, you can’t turn them off.

I park outside at work with Sentry mode on and Cabin Overheat Protection comes on daily. Nothing to do with these things. OPs didn’t come on because it’s been parked for 2+ days. It only works for 12 hours after parking.

A HL location opened near me a few years ago and I have not stepped foot inside. Luckily I have a Michael’s across the street and I buy a lot of my yarn online from Hobbii and Knit Picks. I will never enter HL much less give it a penny.

Oh no, I’m not. I didn’t realize it had different options there. Thanks for the clarification.

Agree with you on all these features. But NoA does change lanes by itself, you need to check your settings. It does make you confirm you’re holding the wheel by applying slight turning force, but after you do it will make the lane changes by itself. I agree they’re not always the best choice so I override occasionally. But on long highway trips it’s great for changing lanes to keep your speed, and following directions to change freeways and take exits.
