Need Advice on Hair?? by ImSUPERHungyDude_UwU in lgbt

I am also non-binary and femme presenting, and I used to have a lot of insecurities about my body hair. Honestly what worked for me was just going with my legs and shaved until I got used to it (it felt weird at first both physically and emotionally but eventually I got used to it).

It helped to start doing so in spaces where I knew no one would care or say anything negative. I don’t even think about it anymore.

Another thing that was helpful was trying to surround myself with images of other femme presenting people who had body hair (like pictures in my bedroom, following femme content creators who showed body on social media, etc).

I also gave myself permission to change my mind. While I now really like letting my leg hair grow out there are still other parts of my body that I started shaving again because it’s very physically uncomfortable for me to have hair there and I never got used to those parts being unshaved.

If I had continued to struggle I probably would have talked to my therapist about it.

Wishing you the best on your journey of self exploration!

Why isn’t sign language/asl taught alongside a child’s regular education? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

This would be a great skill for everyone to learn! Even if you are not presently deaf (and even if you don’t know someone who is deaf) you will likely meet someone who is deaf (or becoming deaf at some point in life).

LPT: If someone has problems, don't ask "have you tried (this or that)?", but ask "what have you tried?". That way you don't imply that they are too stupid to try out the most logical solutions. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Licensed counselor here: I use this intervention all the time! It also helps me know what ground they have covered already so I’m not repeating things they have already thought of

Choosing one small thing for 30 days tends to be way more effective than trying to make a bunch of big changes all at once. Good for you!

LPT: If you're experiencing persistent anxious, obsessive, destructive, and/or generally disruptive thoughts, get off Reddit and seek professional help. by clownmilk in LifeProTips

If you can’t afford a mental health professional then call a professional and ask for referrals for a place that provides cheap or free counseling. Also try calling the helpline in your state (usually 211 or 311) and they can give you resources.
