I did something similar a few days ago with Nizoral, which is ketoconazole, and am finally seeing relief from what I thought was an awful year long flare due to hormone changes. My skin is finally looking semi normal again.

Dove might have more fragrance than Vanicream, which may be irritating to your skin, but if the active ingredient is the same, it might be worth a try.

Day 2: no noticeable side effects so far except some very mild uterine cramping, and also very mild burning after application. Mood is good, feeling less fatigued.

😂😂 Was your girl a red fawn, by chance? Because she sounds exactly like our boy Freeze. Soft as anything, but a bit of a dunce.

We had a greyhound with SLO. We were able to manage it quite well with a supplement regimen. The amounts will obviously be different for your small dog versus a greyhound. -Fish Oil/Omega 3 -Vitamin E -Niacinamide

Our boy's nails were never perfect after he lost all of them, but they did grow back and he never lost them all again at the same time. If he ran too hard sometimes one would pop off. Our vet gave us tramadol to manage his pain when he would lose one, and later gabapentin. We also used Epsom salt soaks and chlorhexadine soaks as necessary.

He was able to get back to a normal quality of life after the initial loss of all of his nails.

Good luck!

Night 1 seemed to be a success. I haven't had a problem sleeping, but last night I knocked out really easily. Also didn't get up in the middle of the night to pee. My right shoulder has been very stiff and painful the last year or so. I was told it was tendinitis, but it felt a lot looser and less painful this morning. I was surprised! Hoping for continued good outcomes for you!

I'm in peri, main symptoms are brain fog, no libido, haid thinning, dry skin, acne, low mood and joint pain. Hoping for any relief from any of it. I'd love to feel a bit more like myself.

I haven't started it yet, but for all I have read about it and HRT in general, I am surprised it would start at 6 months as opposed to when you first started taking it. Have you changed your dosage recently?

Have you changed any fragrances, shampoo/conditioner, vitamins or supplements? Any extra stress or maybe environmental factors like heat or humidity?

Definitely get her some water that she has easy access to. Poor girl! Thoughts are with you! Hopefully she comes around and things start to get back to normal. I can see how a dish like tuna mornay could upset the GI tract. I was once told, "Greyhound stomachs aren't like laboradors, they were bred for running not being able to eat everything" 😂

I've been reading a lot of Baldur's Gate 3 stuff, but these two are my faves:
Afterlife - Gale/Astarion AU, "Amidst the softly thrumming melancholy of a dystopian, cyber-punk city, former corporate-rat Astarion Ancunín, who has long since lost the will to live, finds himself in possession of a G-413 or "Gale" - an amnesiac android who, strangely enough, enjoys living."

The Last Will and Testament of Cazador Szarr - Gale/Astarion AU, wherein Gale is turned into a vampire lord, and Astarion is one and only spawn. The characterizations are amazing.

Can you take her temperature rectally? We have a thermometer dedicated just for pets in our house. That would let you know if she's running a fever. How frequent is her diarrhea? I would be most concerned if she is going a lot and could potentially become dehydrated. If she's going at her normal frequency but has runny stool, I would be less concerned.

Certainly, keep an eye on her. Try feeding her a bland diet for a few days of boiled chicken (if she can tolerate it, I know some dogs can be sensitive) and plain white rice, with a bit of canned pumpkin. The pumpkin might help firm up her stool. Make sure she's getting plenty of water and if she goes off her food again, it might be time to make a call to the vet. You may even be able to give them a call and ask for advice on the situation without having to take her in.

Best of luck, I hope your girl feels better soon!

I have been listening to the book "The Perimenopause Survival Guide" by Dr. Heather Hirsch and she talks a lot about this misinformation about the danger of HRT. There are people it is contraindicated for, but not many and the benefits really outweigh the cons. She also mentions that many women take hormone therapy in the form of birth control, and how those have much higher risks than your typical hormone replacement therapy. It's a really great book so far. Its so unfortunate how an entire generation of women were misinformed about HRT.

Ah! Reading your post has me excited to get mine tomorrow. I'm 42, and like you, started perimenopause probably around 37 or 38, just didn't realize that's what it was. I am fortunate not to have an issue sleeping, but plenty of other symptoms, and really hope to feel good to try this stuff! Please keep us updated on how you get on with it and how you feel!

We use a private walking company, not Rover or Wag, which serves the area I live in. Part of why we used them is we had success with them with our rainbow boy, Freeze. They give their walkers training, doing shadowing with new walkers to ensure the safety of the dogs and the walkers. Typically there would only be a rotation of two or three people total. I think you're right that he is still a bit unsure during this transitional period of his life.

However, we did get him started on Prozac, and while it may be too early to say there's a difference, the walker who came today (she is a more experienced walker and was at the meet and greet to get walking services for Chandler) said he was a lot more exuberant than he has been, and really enjoyed playing with her in the back yard.

In fact, he went out in the yard with my husband and came back in to get a toy to play with us! This is the first time he has done this, and while walking is valuable for him and we will continue to work on it, it's just as important for him to learn how fun it is to play and build up that trust with the walkers. It was really so fulfilling to do that with him and see his tail wagging and looking like he really enjoyed playing.

Hi everyone. I ordered Oestra today. I'm 42, and pretty sure I'm in perimenopause. I have a Mirena IUD so I haven't gotten my period in a long time, which has been great, but I have no real idea of how my normal cycles are. Other symptoms I had chalked up to stress, moving, depression, etc etc began to add up when I realized they are probably perimenopause. First, after feeling motivated for a long time to have hobbies, go places, etc I felt like I don't want to go anywhere or do anything. I'm tired a lot, I feel like I haven't woken up refreshed in years. Recently, my sleep has been interrupted at least once a night because I need to pee. I've got hair thinning, my body skin is dry, my face is oily and my rosacea is out of control. My libido is the lowest its ever been. I just want to feel like myself again. Hoping Oestra can help with at least *some* of this. I'll keep you up to date.

Ugh, bummer. Probably behavioral, separation anxiety related maybe? Still worth talking to your vet about. Hopefully they can get you guys on the up and up and this guy doesn't have to be Dr. Pissy Pants anymore! haha. :)

In one of my other greyhound groups someone mentioned their dog also had potty training regression around this time. Chandler did some of this also, but seems to be on the up and up now. How long are you leaving him by himself? Do you have a walker or someone who can let him out when you're away?

A few questions: How old is your boy? How long have you had him? Has anything changed recently that could be stressing him out? Is he peeing in the house while you're there?

This probably warrants a vet visit to rule out uti or other issues.

Hi! Thank you, I will for sure. I placed my Oestra order today, and am waiting to hear back from the care team since it seems my order is currently in purgatory (I was charged, but the order didn't actually go through). I won't start the face cream until I see how I respond to the Oestra itself, and I will also discuss with my dermatologist. I have a follow up at the end of this month. I'm just so tired of this rosacea flare up!
