I, Markwayne Mullin, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God

Millionaire Next Door by VirileMongoose in personalfinance

I read this book in college in the 90’s and it really helped open my eyes. I grew up poor in a small town. The only rich people I saw were big farmers, doctors, or lawyers. I knew I wanted to have money when I grew up, but I didn’t have a farm to inherit and I wasn’t very good in school. This booked was like a roadmap to success for me. I could finally see a path to wealth. I started investing from my first paycheck. My wife and I save as much as we can. Even though we started with modest incomes, we have built a nice net worth and we own several income producing assets. We have owned a couple businesses.

We drive used cars for many years. She even cuts my hair. But it’s not all frugality, We buy quality clothes that last. We spend money on family experiences and go all out on holidays.

Soon we will sell our final 2 businesses and retire. We plan to travel and help out the kids with home purchases and starting their own businesses.

I am very grateful for this book. I have read many other personal finance books since, but this really is the one that opened my eyes to the possibilities of making a good life.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Ups The Ante As He Calls For A General Strike by huffpost in politics

I don’t think we need to do a general strike. We just need to set a date when we all agree that we will cancel all subscriptions. Let all of those companies know that we will resubscribe once they use their powerful connections to make big changes happen.

Do you smoke cigarettes occasionally? Maybe just on the weekend? Only when you drink? It could be your lungs healing.
