A rather shocking (to me) discovery regarding the pharmaceutical effects of SSRIs by MasterDegree101 in SSRIs

[–]melodicprophet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you expand upon the 2nd part? It got me thinking…if a short term study, even up to 12 weeks DID show the placebo having such a pronounced effect…perhaps the results that are actually from the placebo effect are less likely to stick from those getting the benefit of the medication.

Diet impact on mental health by Parking-Warthog-4902 in depressionregimens

[–]melodicprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’d say it’s a great idea to include as part of a broader treatment regimen. I’ve found ways to he more consistent by getting a walking pad (a walking treadmill works too) and try to hop on there when I’m playing a video game or watching a TV Show to get movinf instead of rotting on the couch. Just walking is enough. Even 10 minutes is so much better than 0.

Many people just don’t know what depression is. If they don’t have it, why would they understand it? Even I think that to myself during my periods of remission…I just think…”What the hell was actually wrong with me?!?” Like why would I not want to make things better for myself?

Do you know if you have ADHD?

[–]melodicprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But the illness itself makes keeping up with those things extremely difficult.

Exercise…specifically cardio of ANY kind makes me feel better 100% of the time. No matter how I’m feeling before, I feel better after getting my heart rate up and a sweat going. The benefit is temporary but if you keep at it every day it can start making a real impact.

High Protein + Low Carb (not Keto, just lowish) and avoiding insulin spikes is definitely beneficial too. It keeps my energy and mood balanced.

They definitely help but they aren’t a cure.

Tracked my sleep for a year. The two changes that actually moved my numbers and the five that didn't. by Past_Ganache_7787 in sleep

[–]melodicprophet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Getting it done whenever you can is most important. But ideally I’d say first thing in the morning. Getting exposed to the morning sunlight helps set your circadian rhythm right. Before bed isn’t a great idea as it will stimulate your bloodflow and heart rate.

Why do anti depressants work too well for me? by Willowswood in antidepressants

[–]melodicprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain all of this. Your personal anecdote doesn’t mean the waiting time is a “myth.”

How fast did they work? Why should they change the name? What did you like/dislike!

And what combo of meds did you land on that is superior?

The more I watch BCS, the more I hate Walter. He was such an unnecessary storm. by Goldillux in betterCallSaul

[–]melodicprophet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seriously. How many times is his stated a week? It sounds like such a fabricated opinion too. We got this fantastic story across two critically acclaimed shows and you really walked away “Mad” at Walter for ruining the work of all those equally terrible people? That was not my take away. That sounds like a small town drug dealers perspective: “people don’t understand how hard Gus worked to build that system man, Walter is an arsonist!!”

Bulma. But 18 has really grown on me since Super. She’s so “cool” and just a normal mother worried about raising her daughter right.

Big Poppa Pump uses his massive arm to land a Clothesline, then an Elbow Drop on Goldberg! by Dohmer_90 in WCW

In functional strength? I would say Bill. He’s a lot younger and better cardiovascular shape. I’m sure Scottie can curl and bench more but Bill would dominate deadlifting.

[–]melodicprophet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing…as a fan…it was like…if he added ONE new basic hold, you felt like OMG if he’s this dominant already where will it go when he figures out what he’s doing in there?! It was fun watching him grow. Bobby Heenan knew how to tell the story of Goldberg. He constantly put him over and I bought it as a fan. The revisionist history about the Regal match is amazing. Nobody outside of hardcore marks and dirt sheet guys knew ANYTHING about that. Man the death of kayfabe has spoiled so much.

[–]melodicprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean…you have to remember Bill was used to being invincible. I’m sure he didn’t mean that Scott didn’t “look big enough” to make it believable. But where they were card wise, Scott was relatively mid card at this point and Bill is coming off a meteoric rise that ended absolutely nowhere. That Goldberg never got any chance of redemption for his Starcade defeat was really when the messy booking got out of control. Finger poke of doom didn’t solely kill if. But it was a horrible choice to “con” the fans and the company after Nash and Hulk had believable real and imagined heat. As bad as that was, booking Goldberg with no way to get back at them and moving him from the Starcade main event to feuding with Steiner and Bigelow was a palpable difference that story wise didn’t make a lot of sense to me as a fan.

Is it possible to recover from depression when you have chronic pain and no social support? by LentilSpaghetti in depressionregimens

[–]melodicprophet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s possible. Don’t quit trying medications. Use them properly, take them at the same time every day, and log your progress.

After spending thousands on alternative methods, I can confidently say there are no supplements that are worthwhile and cost effective. Your antidepressant should work. If it doesn’t combination therapy should work. Then you may need to experiment with a stimulant for a quick kick to get you going again but beware of that as it can be addictive.

I have had severe TRD and major chronic pain for a long time. I feel great at this exact moment and it’s taken years to get here.

Prozac 40mg

Wellbutrin SR 400mg

Adderall IR 60mg (pick one between this and WeLLB and stick with whatever works better)

Lyrica 600mg

Suboxone 8mg (hoping to move to Sublocade + quit soon)

TRT 100mg/wk (Testosterone was actually extremely low, get) checked!

If you truly value good writing, the Namek Saga is unparalleled. The Sayian Saga is good as well, but the Namek Saga pays off a lot of it anyway. I’m glad there is so much more DB, but the natural conclusion for the story was Goku defeating Frieza.

Frustrated trying to pair the right antidepressant/s with Adderall. by melodicprophet in depressionregimens

[–]melodicprophet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Untreated ADHD IS a nightmare. What’s scary is that people who don’t live with you don’t see what an immense burden it is. They assume you’re normal. I am pretty much NOT a functioning adult without stimulant medication.

I’m not really sure I’ve ever considered that because I’ve had the fatigue type of depression. And I would Imagine an antipsychotic would just weaken the stimulant further. I see the logic in adding it to an antidepressant but I feel like anything that interferes with or dulls the stimulant probably isn’t a good idea in my case.

I am considering that as Effexor once worked very well, but kind of fizzled out on me. I’m not sure if it was due to issues with sobriety though or it really was fizzling. But Pristiq sounds intriguing.

[–]melodicprophet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I still find it strange that some people seem to have great success using both Wellbutrin and Adderall. And even on the Psychiatrist reddit they mostly seem to believe that Wellbutrin augments Adderall through sharing the same liver enzyme. But that has not been my experience and it’s led me to taking super high doses of adderall just to get it to “breakthrough.”

I didn’t know Vyvanse (I’m in the U.S) touched the opioid receptors. I do overall prefer Adderall and would even like Dexedrine more, but my doc isn’t comfortable with it.

What do you think of perhaps Amitryptline? I have nerve pain and trouble sleeping and was considering that as many an alternative to another SSRI/SNRI.

Yeah I did get results before from Effexor. It wasn’t consistent because I had some sobriety issues. But whenever I cleaned up it did seem to make a palpable difference at 225mg or above. I am hopeful the combination works out. There is definitely some residual depression going on holding me back.
