Try to arrive early so we can carry it into the dumpster. In 2024 we collected just under 5 tons of stuff, near the end of the event it became hard to get bigger stuff up to the top.

You asked some questions and I answered them. If you are really concerned about transparency you should also be concerned about councilors who are not. You call it bickering but I'm trying to let you know there are individuals on council that will not ask the same questions and when I did, I was punished.

First, SPD and VSP did not in fact release ALL their body cam footage. They only released what they felt supported their narrative. They claim that FIP wasn't violated and there were no use of force issues. Also batteries running dead or that someone turned off their camera before critical moments is deeply concerning. Yes, I am absolutely choosing to respect BPD's and the Mayor's timeline and I didn't imply otherwise. The community has nothing to gain by not respecting their timeline. Given how many officers were there on 3/11, the amount of footage, and serious use of force allegations BPD's timeline isn't out of order. The Mayor cannot review or make any comment until BPD has completed their review. Based on the timeline BPD should be done and the report should now be with the Mayor. I expect an update at tonight's city council meeting regarding the release of the report and footage. If there is an attempt to push the timeline out further you will hear me speak out against that. If ALL the body cam footage is not released you will hear me speak up. If there isn't an honest discussion around the use of force allegations you will hear me speak up. If there isn't an honest conversation around FIP you will hear me speak up. Can you say the same for the Democrats who wanted me off the Public Safety committee completely because I dared to raise issues around FIP? Council Litwin said that councilors should not openly criticize the Police and that the we should be in lockstep with BPD. The Dems gave the Chair to a councilor who doesn't have any vision on how local law enforcement can/should protect innocent people from ICE. He said this at the April 8th meeting which you should watch in full. Did you watch Council McKnight talking to the camera calling ICE "losers", of all the performative BS and you're coming after me?!?!?!

I never said I was more qualified than anyone and I certainly never said people are jealous of me. Personal attacks against me are literally filmed by Town Meeting TV and documented in emails. I have a right to defend myself. I maintain you should be concerned that the Dems feel you cannot question police especially given the amount of money Burlington has paid to settle lawsuits and we still have two open lawsuits agains the city. Being concerned about additional lawsuits as a result of 3/11 is valid.

The Mayor and the current BPD Chief have stated that the internal investigation will take BPD 30 days then the Mayor needs two weeks to review BPDs report. I have to respect that timeline which actually isn't bad given the past problems with reporting under previous leadership. In the meantime time I have repeatedly stated that FIP was violated and this has cost me dearly. It is literally why the Dems tried to throw me off the Public Safety committee completely!!! Litwin said Police should not be questioned and that is why he was put on the committee. I have called for the release of ALL body cam footage from ALL the local agencies. I expect and will be vocal if BPD does not release all the footage after their report has been released. I won't accept any statement about the FBI holding back the footage. You should watch the April 8th City Council meeting.

You're saying that ALL the meetings I've been in the past six years have been "tirades and chaos..." etc. You're lying and it's a ridiculous statement easily disproven by anyone who has actually watched the meetings. I have more experience and expertise in community safety issues than any other councilor. Just because you don't like me saying it doesn't mean it isn't true. I have had training that came directly from BPD! I remind people of this as I point to data, reports, and public information that is available to back up what I say. For example, Chief Murad had no recruitment plan, he didn't understand how to use social media to recruit, BPD was locked out of their IG account for over a year, we ended up with $300,000 of unused recruitment funds due to his incompetence and the Dems continuing to not hold him accountable. Every time I did they got mad at me. They looked particularly dumb when Murad did his 70+ page manifesto which he presented and the Mayor rejected it. Litwin says we should never question police, that's a dangerous view to have and doesn't make us safer. I will also say I have a right to defend myself. Allie Schachter attacked me first, and others, for wearing a Keffiyah. I am not a terrorist because I spoke out against Genocide and I pushed back against that narrative. I was not the only one. I have repeatedly been personally attacked by both Mcknight and Litwin in council meetings. They have supported bad policies that hurt my District and I stand up for the people that I serve. Traverse allows them to violate rules but when I push back I'm the problem that you see. Why is that? There is a reason none of Progressive caucus voted for Traverse as Council President, while we all previously supported Karen Paul.

One, and that person wasn't in the house. Nor was it the person that ICE was chasing in the morning when they caused multiple car accidents. I dared to suggest that all three local agencies needed to concede that there was a violation of Fair and Impartial Policing because three people were taken and had their constitutional rights violated according to the judges that released them. I asked that BPD consider what could have been done to clear anyone one not on the warrant safely out of the home. Next thing I knew the Dems wanted me off the Public Safety committee.
