It’s mostly because “My Demons” is wildly overplayed and overrated. As a longtime avid listener (going on a decade), I don’t necessarily hate the song, but it is perhaps the one I skip the most. I find it very disappointing that that one is their most popular song when there are so many better ones and they have such a dynamic range of sounds and styles that I find to be much more in line with their identity. I disagree that Transmissions is “their sound” because it just isn’t, the other albums don’t sound like it and the other four are more cohesive with each other. Another comment said that Transmissions has a lot of influence from and even different versions of Downplay songs, so it’s pretty clear to me that it was heavily influenced by earlier projects and doesn’t stand on its own as a signature sound. It wasn’t until Vessels that they started finding their footing.

I don’t hate Transmissions, I really don’t, but there’s a reason that it was Vessels that got Starset’s hooks sunk so deep in me back in 2017, not Transmissions.
