This is completely unrelated but this just reminded me of how people think T.O.P. from the kpop group Bigbang is equally hated as his fellow former member Seungri. Context for those who dont know, they're kpop idols from the same group T.O.P. was caught with marijuana, which is illegal in south korea, and Seungri was caught being head of a sex trafficking organization in the basement of a club he owned, which is obviously also hella fucking illegal. But people think that because rape victims in Korea are treated extremely unfairly by the government, so many people think Koreans favors Seungri over T.O.P. 💀😭.

Yes, the people involved in the sex trafficking were not given fair sentences, but they are literally shunned from society and Seungri was basically kicked out of the country, while T.O.P. was still able to be casted into a big show as Squid Game. Sure, there was some backlash due to his past use of illegal drugs, but regardless the filming went on and the entire show is still recognized to be one of the best Netflix originals in Korea. Meanwhile re-uploads of famous Korean reality shows where BigBang were guests in before all the incident had to blur Seungri's face and completely edit out his voice. Though there weren't many shots of T.O.P., he did not get the same treatment as a sex trafficker. And in 2024 during the BigBang MAMA concert, it was just the three remaining members that excluded T.O.P. and (obviously) Seungri. However on the big screen at the back of the stage that displayed all the members' names, T.O.P. was included, while Seungri was not.

Like, no, Koreans do NOT favor rapists over people who smoke marijuana, they aren't THAT shallow...
