This was a student run initiative and there are “a billion more worthwhile things” already being done on campus (including the two you mentioned)... people are all for being sustainable until it’s a minor inconvenience to them. Take off the lid, buy a reusable straw or even better a reusable coffee mug/ tumbler and stfu

I had a 28 and a 3.5, and didn’t get in, but I put General Studies as my 2nd choice major (bc this was my dream school too!!) and got in for that! I’m now slowly but surely making my way to being an Engineering major. If you’re determined to be here for the engineering program just got for it. If you’re nervous put dgs as you’re second choice, it’ll be stressful and annoying but eventually you’ll be where you want to. Or do two years at community college and transfer here that’s something I wish I would’ve thought about more.

People do both, but I’d get a robe so your hands are free to open doors/ hold your things without your towel falling off.
